A great find

We drove from Houston to Santa Fe on vacation, arriving late on Sunday afternoon, by the time we were settled and ready to eat it was 9:00 pm. We stumbled upon Vanessie by accident. This place is a classic. Great food and an excellent piano player in the adjacent lounge. Professional staff and an elegant dining room. This place is a real treasure.

What a find! Thanks to TripAdvisor we checked out the piano bar where we were staying and had so much fun. Even though the piano player called me Mr. Know It All (jokingly -- he was asking the audience to take guesses about who wrote the songs etc and I couldn't help it that he was drawing on the decades... We chose an Easter buffet at the beautiful Vanessie dining room. The meal was ok. The buffet spread was clearly a stretch for the staff. Carving stations would have been better than congealing grease in an unattractive shafing dish. The flow to and from the buffet was challenging. This was certainly not Vanessie's best effort.

Love the Sangria and the entertainment, it does get packed, go early before the live music starts. Food was average, but the place is so lovely. Filled with locals too. Oh make sure you do not go on 'amateur night'. They have some theatrical musical that was the worse.... ;( that was a wasted afternoon for us.

Wow! I wish we had been in Santa Fe longer or discovered this gem before our last night there. I made reservations, and although they had an event in the main dining room, they gave us a fantastic table in the lounge area, which I would actually choose over the main dining room next time. The pianist was excellent, the... More

Great seating in sunroom off main dining area. Great service and great fare, offering delicious wild game and seafood. Many entrees served with sides included and some al la carte'. We had excellent service and a great lounge attached with live entertainment.

The music was so much fun, the crowd was so into it, the wait staff (David) such a delight, we thought we'd go in for a drink and leave...ended up staying several hours, ordering enough appetizers to call it dinner, then went back the next night! Bob Finnie was the guy at the piano and wow - - was he... More

The music here is terrific, the musician engages the crowd. It's a fun evening except it ends very early. If the bartender is on the mic, you'll be waiting a long while for a drink ...

This was always a great local restaurant and wonderful piano bar..and it still is, but some changes have been made but def for the locals and people that come here for the summer during opera season not for the better. My boyfriend and I ate there the other night and there was hardly anyone in there, it was sad. This... More
