We had heard from a business friend in Albuquerque that Vanessie has some of the best steaks in town and we should book a table there if we were planning a visit to Santa Fe; so it didn't take us long to make our reservation for dinner one evening. Our meals were a carnevor's dream: tender, flavorful lamb dishes and... More

We stopped into this restaurant on a Monday to find the place packed. The food was very good with some unusual items (portabello "fries"). The main attraction was Doug Montgomery who sang and played piano for a least 3 hours non-stop. Doug knew how to work the crowd and had a range of songs from old to current. The service... More

A friend suggested we go to Vanessie for its old fashioned piano bar. I was quite frankly skeptical. The last piano bar I'd gone to was in 1968 in Grand Forks, N.Dak...not a very good year for piano bars. As we walked in, nobody was talking although the room was full. We joined some friends and exchanged whispered greetings and... More

Wonderful dinner, super service, and the piano player, bar crowd was a riot! We stayed at the inn and had a coupon from them. After the restaurants on the plaza this place was a classy and wonderful change of pace!

Long time since we had gone to a piano bar lounge for dinner. Great fun. Doug Montgomery apparently is a longstanding institution at this place. He engaged the audience in an entertaining way. Great change of pace from the usual Santa Fe scene. Food was good and the service was enthusiastically, friendly and excellent. Bob Finnie came on after Doug... More

We frequent Vanessie's to hear Doug Montgomery play fun piano and recommend such for a nice shift for evening entertainment. BUT do not get hopes up for good food or wine or service....all is very mediocre...So eat elsewhere first and then go...Doug doesn't play every night .... so be sure to call first.

Very over priced food lacking the quality, service, and value from years of dining experience at this restaurant. Don't go while it's raining, the roof leaks throughout the restaurant and you have to be careful not to step in the pans catching the water.

My friend and I heard that there was a piano bar at Vanessi's, and we decided to go, thinking that it would be the usual dark bar with the usual guy at the piano. Not so. We initially were not sure what to make of Doug Montgomery and his legion of fans. He served up the first few numbers we... More

The food is great, we ate in the bar area and enjoyed the entertainment. The service was marginal at best and we were told the kitchen was behind when our order was taken. Hopefully, they will staff for the crowds they get so service improves, we will be back to try it again as the food was great.

Doug Montgomery is IT! This is a great great evening of fantastic piano music played by a really talented -- and very nice -- guy. A real Santa Fe treasure. The food and drinks are good too...but it's the music you should go for!
