The paella we were hoping for

It has been over five years since we were last at El Meson in Santa Fe but we were looking for good paella and we had been disappointed by one of the other noted Spanish restaurants a few nights before. The paella wasn't as spicy as I like but it had an excellent socarrat (crispy caramelized rice... read more

My friend and I found ourselves wanting a meal at 9pm in Santa Fe. We noticed that El Meson, which is near the square, was open. The ambiance was elegant but comfortable. The Tapas were perfect for a late evening meal. Our waiter was a delight despite the late hour. We decided to share a little bit of everything. I... More

After reading reviews on Trip Advisor we decided this is where we wanted to have our nice dinner of the trip. We called in for reservations, something that was recommended for a weekend night and was able to get in at 8:30. We had called just after 6. We were sat immediately when we arrived. We were at in the... More

Tapas are always fun for sharing and trying many types of food, although El Meson also offers a few main courses and paella. Our group shared just about everything and I liked everything. The servers were professional and friendly.

As a local, I believe this is one of the restaurants that provides a true Santa Fe experience. It's a short walk from the Santa Fe Plaza. The main dining room provides a quieter ambiance and a larger menu selection. The full range of Spanish cuisine choices, including Paellas and Tapas, are served there. For a more casual and livelier... More

We opted for that Tapas. They are appetizer portions which is like a menu sampler. The seafood selections were the best. We also split an entree which was to die for. This is more of a fine dinning experience. Once we ordered the food arrived very quickly and the staff were very prompt. Very fun and enjoyable meal.

We have been to Madrid and this place rivals every tapas joint we hit. One of the most enjoyable evenings ever thanks to the quality of food, atmosphere, and service. First, this place is so perfectly lit for an intimate evening - not too bright, not too dark where you can't read the menu. The wait staff are very helpful... More

The owner David is from Spain and the food reflects that. Very very good Tapas and other traditional Spanish dishes. The Cantina is a great night spot that features music from jazz to flamenco most evenings.
