Very Enjoyable Again

My wife and I returned to El Meson, one of our favorites, for one of our recent three nights in Santa Fe. We had made reservations and were glad we did. We had diner here twice in July. The service was excellent and so was the food. Try the Piquillo Rellenos and the Duck Enfrijoladas and the wood charred quail. Desserts were also very good. Not expensive for what you get.

I really was excited to try the food here but when I was served my paella is was absurdly under seasoned and the seafood was rubbery. The service was uninspired at best. The weird part was that the restaurant was empty so one would think they would show more concern.

We had paella ..was looking forward to this but was quite disappointed....perhaps a C at best. Service was faultless Restaurant only had about 3 couples in it. Was perhaps our most average type meal in a wonderful dining city.

We decided to have tapas for supper and our two favourites were the Shrimp and Suffed Mushrooms. Chicken was a little dry. The Marscapone Cheesecake was delicious and the sangria was very good. The service was excellent. We wondered into the bar where the tango crowd was in for the evening and it was a great way to end the... More

We thoroughly enjoyed the live music with our dessert in the bar at the Spanish restaurant , El Meson. Delicious selections with excellent service.

This was our first time to El Meson. We had a bit of trouble locating the restaurant in time for our reservation. Once we arrived hostess was very friendly and seated us immediately. Our server was very cordial and informative. Our sangria was very refreshing and filled with a great fruity taste. We ordered the seafood paella and we were... More

El Meson is a rather traditional Spanish restaurant. We specifically went for the paella which was good (we got the one with seafood). Since the paella takes 30 minutes and its very filling, its nice to have a smallish appetizer but all of them were rather caloric. When we asked for olives, we could only get them with a cheese... A local clothing merchant recommended El Meson. We ordered a selection of tapas including blue cheese steak, calamari, chorizo stuffed mushrooms and crawfish relleno pepper. The sauces were excellent, fresh baked bread with olive oil were provided. Service was outstanding and we will return. Nice wine selection.

For a change of taste and fine spices, this is the perfect place. The suggested tapas were excellent and we loved the delicate flavor of the dishes, nothing overwhelming. Don't omit the desserts and try the sorbete! We were also pleasantly surprised by the dishes finesse; an fried eggplant lightly salted and spiced with saffron is worth the adventure! The... More
