Most of the reviews of El Meson appear to be by people who have just discovered tapas. Locals who know Spain and Spanish culture recognize that El Meson is the place for flamenco (jazz and tango, too), and that the food is consistently good. We had one of the best nights out ever recently especially because the excellent performers were... More

I must agree with Chicago999 that food was "good, not great". I have nothing negative to say but there were no memorable dishes of the 9 or 10 we tried. For dessert we tried the cheesecake and it was good. The chocolate mousse (reportedly a specialty) was very stiff, like butter instead of creamy and light like we are used... More

Not sure this deserves the high ratings that have earned it the #9 spot in Santa Fe at the moment. We booked in the bar so we could enjoy the tango dancing on Tuesdays. It's comfortable seating and we did have fun watching the locals, most of whom are really very good. The tapas were good but nothing was outstanding... More

July 4, 2014, My husband and I and his family had dinner here (8 of us total). We ordered tapas dishes and had a great time sharing them around the table. Noah was our waiter along with two other helpers. Service was great and all the food was delicious. If you have never tried tapas, this is a great place... More

We booked a reservation at El Meson based on the food but found that the Friday night Jazz performance was really the main course for us. With one exception, the tapas served in the lounge where the music is presented were very good - - especially the lamb and fried bread with ham. The gazpacho was, however, a dud -... More

This is my second review of El Meson and, as last time, I focused mostly on the tapas. Again, the shrimp in hot oil and the mushrooms were out of this world. However, the focus of my attention was dessert. Last time I visited El Meson I settled for a crema catalana and churros - only because the highly-praised cheesecake... More

Ate here twice and it was great both times. The tapas are fantastic, as is their paella. Great wine selection. Service both times was super (and in fact, we've eaten at El Meson every time we've been in Santa Fe and it's always been really good). Highly recommended.

Just there with 2 friends and we ordered 6 different tapas--all delicious! Service was excellent and server gave us great recommendations on what to order. Just a short walk from the Plaza.

Great tapas and excellent paella. Very nice interior decor. Nothing much to look at from the outside, but don't hesitate to go in.

Fine tasting food, partnered with a quiet room in which to have a pleasant dinner. The Potato/Leek soup was amazing, as were the appetizers and vegetable paella! Wait staff were professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. Everything about this place was wonderful, and I highly recommend it to anyone craving a taste of real Spanish cuisine.
