Tecolote Cafe was started in 1980 by Bill and Alice Jennison with a desire to feed guests great meals, affordably, with superior service. Mr. Bill and Alice's recipes have been pleasing palettes for 31 years. In May of 2010, sadly, we lost Mr. Bill after a long and accomplished life. Since August 2010, Katherine Adkins (Bill and Alice's daughter) and her husband Matt Adkins have been doing their best to honor Mr. Bills vision in carrying on the family business We offer a varied menu focusing primarily on New Mexican breakfast and lunch cuisine, as well as some American favorites. We bake all of our breads in house as well as our muffins and biscuits contained in our bakery basket. A little known secret to our great burgers? Fresh baked Kaiser rolls to vehicle our superb patties and ingredients. Whether you come for breakfast or lunch, we are sure you will be pleased with our delectable choices and our warm, friendly atmosphere. If you aren't, just let us know so we can make your experience everything you hoped for!Katie and I, or Alice, can't wait to see you on your next visit. So, come on in, and remember, we serve "Great breakfast, No toast!", just for you.

Tecolote Cafe

A special place where Local Santa Feans go as well as being frequented by out-of-towners. It's a unique place and the food is truly very Nuevo Mexicano. Tecolote is the name for OWL in Spanish and it is owned by a local family for many years.

Tecolote used to be great and we look forward to it being great again, but it closed in April 2014 and has not yet reopened. If you go to the location on the map that accompanies these reviews, you will find a vacant lot. New location, currently being renovated, is 1616-A St. Michael’s Drive. (note: I said June 2014 for... Long wait but very worth it. Delicious breakfast and obviously a local favorite. A must every time we visit Santa Fe. Not on the plaza but worth the short drive.

Whenever I go back to Santa Fe, I have to make it for breakfast at Tecolote. The owl decor, homemade bread basket, and best green chile you can't go wrong. It is currently moving to a new location, I hope it keeps the charm of the original spot and expands so you never have to wait!

Best food ever! We always stopped there on our way to Albuquerque for breakfast or on our way home back to Denver. Always looked forward to stopping there. Unfortunately they had to close due to the landlord evicting them, but they will be back. Make sure that you keep watching for there reopening because you will want to for sure... More

Tecolote Cafe is a breakfast Oasis. It doesn't matter much what you pick, it is all fresh, good food made to order. But here are a couple of my favorites. The Atole Pinon Pancakes are a really winner if you are looking for a grain and nut breakfast. Tecolote also provides fresh and fluffy omelettes my favorite is the cheddar... More

Great place for friends, locals and tourists. Egg and meat dishes. Salads on request, with great bakery baskets. Service is attentive, but atmosphere is bland. People are interesting. Come with an appetite and you will not be disappointed. Hopefully they will find new location.

The landlord has evicted Tecolote effective 4/30/2014. The last day at the current location is Easter Sunday, April 20th. The owners are looking for a new location and hope to open there in 2 to 3 months. In my opinion, this is a bad move by the landlord. Tecolote has been at this location for a long time, over 30... What a great breakfast we had at the community table at this little gem! Diners changed out during the course of our meal and each one brought a different experience, giving us new perspectives on things to see & do in Santa Fe and on life in general. The Atole Piñon Pancakes (blue cornmeal and piñon nuts)were delicious, the corned... More

As former residents of Santa Fe, we consider ourselves able to identify excellence and Tecolote is greatness all the way! The parking lot was full but we managed to get a brunch-ish table. We went for lunch but saw amazing breakfasts being delivered and enjoyed around us. We shared a combination plate and each item was exceptional. Service was efficient... More
