Off the Beaten Path

La Choza is off the beaten path but right on for New Mexican food. Great service and very accommodating for small children. Loved my chili relleno!

I stopped into La Choza on the recommendation of a local and it was great. It is perhaps not easy to find but well worth any minor effort. I did not have a reservation so I sat at the bar and had a great time with locals. Beer and food seemed endless and it was very warm on a very... More

La Choza is the sister restaurant to The Shed. The Shed, because of it's touristy location is the one most visitors select. We were going that route, as well, but I couldn't get reservations and we weren't willing to wait for an hour and a half for dinner. I saw that La Choza had good reviews, so I called there... More

Four of us and the food across the board was average northern New Mexico food. Not bad, but does not rise to very good (four) or excellent (five). Believe there are better choices in Santa Fe for this type of food - I also found it more Tex-Mex than northern New Mexico. The service was spotty, I had to ask... More

My family and I visited La Choza on Saturday, February 14th of 2015 for lunch. There was about a 20 minute wait to be seated but we were greeted warmly and given a place to sit while we waited for a table. The restaurant itself is small but festive...unfortunately, we were seated at a table underneath a vinyl portable addition... More

Had lunch with some friends and decided to eat here. We ordered a salad, taco and enchilada plate. The food was good, chile not too hot and the service was good. Even the price was right. Overall it was an average place in Santa Fe for lunch. I will eat here again.

Great lunch - we had the enchiladas with posole and chicken taquitos. Just enough heat but not so much that you couldn't enjoy the flavors. Great sopapillas.

We've eaten here before, and we're prepared to wait. We were told we'd have to wait at least an hour for a table, and we were welcomed to wait in the bar. Once we walked into the bar, two couple just had paid their bill and vacated the bar. Score! So we grabbed the stools. The bartender then scolded us,... More

Well, if you read my review of The Shed, maybe that's why you're reading this now. To be clear, I like The Shed, but my preference is for its sister restaurant, La Choza. Here's what sets it apart for me: 1. I find more depth of flavor here, all around. The red chile is fantastic, deep and earthy 2. the... More

This restaurant has a fun decor and very casual feel. The tables are formica with squeeze bottles of honey for the sopapillas on top. We went here for authentic new Mexican food. My friend really liked hers, but my green chile stew was way too hot to eat. The sopapillas were good. The sangria was ok. The bill was reasonable.... More
