Friendly service, ambiance, and tasty

We chose Rio Chama for a fancier dinner during our trip to Santa Fe. We made a reservation for the dining room and arrived early to have a drink at the bar. We ended up liking the bar seating so much we ended up cancelling our reservation and eating at the bar. The bar is well appointed, has... read more

We tried to go here and even had a reservation. Unfortunately, have never felt more unwanted at a restaurant. First there was a group of staff at the hostess stand all with their backs to us. Then no reservation and a big deal that we didn't have one. Then a comment from the hostess about how busy they will be... More

Stopped in last night with friends for a quick bite at the bar. Admittedly it was early - 4:30pm, but the wait staff was lazy, hanging out. We ordered the burger, supposedly prime rib, but awfully dry and tasteless. The burger itself is $12, with $1 each to add green chile and cheese (a must here in Santa Fe). Chips... More

I love coming to this place! The menu is diverse, yummy and I would put as a cross between comfort food and high end steak house. I prefer sitting in the large comfy bar to the main restaurant but they have a couple smaller private rooms that are perfect for a special occasion. I also come here almost weekly for... More

Within walking distance of Four Kachinas B&B. Food and service were outstanding and the atmosphere was terrific.

we made a reservation by phone with a person who did not express even a hint of enthusiasm, and unfortunately the service we experienced at the restaurant continued the theme of indifference. We ordered a salad, the hanger steak with enchilada and black beans, and the prime rib with potatoes and asparagus. The lettuce was rusty on the edges. The... More

The Rio Chama Steakhouse, a sprawling restaurant/bar, with multiple rooms and seating options, is conveniently located and certainly passes the "first impression" test upon entering. Decorated in southwest furnishings and offering a warm and inviting atmosphere, things go downhill after excellent bar drinks. The service is top-notch, but the food is merely adequate and not deserving of Santa Fe grandiosity.... More

We both had the hanger steak and mushroom mole enchiladas with black beans, grilled carrots and asparagus with tortilla soup. Each item was flavorful and perfectly cooked. The enchiladas were very unusual and really hearty with complex flavors. If I lived in Santa Fe this would definitely be one of my regular restaurants. The building itself is also very attractive... We brought friends here on this visit and no one was disappointed! We had Prime Rib, New York Strip, and assorted sides and appetizers. Everything was great! Service is exceptional for western U.S., and their wine list is one of the best I've seen anywhere. It is fine dining to be sure, and worth every penny you'll spend!
