Go for the Show

We went after dinner for the flamenco show which was outstanding. Didn't have any food, so I recommend the entertainment.

Hit and miss with the tapas. Hits included pork tenderloin, garlic shrimp, and surprising olives and anchovies. Would not recommend the ribeye or the calamari. Sangria nothing special. Service not very attentive.

Saturday night at El Farol is happening at the oldest restaurant in Santa Fe. The dinner and Flamenco dancing was a wonderful treat. The tapas and Spanish white wine was very good but pricy. For an additional $25/pp, you can enjoy the artistic and talented footwork of the Flamenco dancers and music. The outside dining is very cramped and crowded... More

The server was very pleasant on the Friday night that we ate a tapas dinner and awaited the flamenco dancers. Food was very disappointing... canned dark tuna in the empanada, paltry frozen shrimp -it was horrible. We had margaritas and waited for the Flaminco which was to start at 9pm ... we left at 9:40... no dancers and a bill... More

We had visited El Farol once for delicious margaritas and tapas and had a lovely time. But the second time was unforgivable. We ordered a drink (expensive but fine) and started with the chef choice tapas. They served us two slices of stale bread, one with canned pineapple and some other fruit doused in what seemed like grape jelly. The... More

Great dining outdoors (we started outdoors then moved indoors after the onset of a hailstorm); seating indoors was a little dark and cramped. We tried Gambas al Ajillo (these shrimp could have been larger and temperature-wise hotter; sauce was tasty...could have used some bread to soak that up), kale salad (a good rendering), chicken chowder (good but, like the salad,... I would give this restaurant a 5 for food and service. Though not the restaurant's fault, we were seated in a small room with one other party of 4 businessmen who were extremely loud. My husband and I could hardly hear each other over their non-stop talking and bursts of laughter. The tapas we ordered were excellent! We retreated to... More

El Farol is a sophisticated, old saloon of the Southwest. It has been operating forever and fun is imbedded in the walls. Parker, the bartender has complete control of the dance and music bar scene, offering really seasoned musicians for dancing and entertainment. There are more private dining areas to the side of the bar arena and behind the kitchen... More

We love the music here! Nicest bartenders in the world. Fun and easy going group of local's to sit and chat with at bar, too. And the band(s) are perfect for all crowds.. bluesy/ rock type music-- but not too loud or over the top.. The food is great, too and especially the trio of deserts (yum). Just can't go... More
