El Farol is a great restaurant with Spanish flair. The grilled romain with goat cheese and onions was smooth and full of flavor. Try the Paella was heavy with clams, shrimp and sausage. Absolutely terrific. Live Spanish music was played in the background. The atmosphere is typical Santa Fe with lots of personality, reds, blues, tans and lovely patio. Prices... More

Great tapas in an atmospheric setting. Attentive service. Try for courtyard seating if weather permits. Skip the jamon Iberico, but all other dishes were super. Going on an evening when there is music and dancing would be even more fun!

This is great food, but pretty pricey. We enjoyed the outside seating, beautiful weather and people watching. GREAT margarita, and good place to eat on Canyon Road when you are shopping the galleries.

We had a tapas dinner with Flamenco dancers on a Sunday night. The $25 pp charge plus food which was really bad was not worth it. The small warren of rooms and the noise level was disappointing. A young and enthusiastic crowd, poor wine was helped somewhat by the cheerfulness and hard work ethic of our server. That is the... More

We had an early dinner at El Farol and had an excellent server who's name is Viva. Her wine recommendation was exactly what I described that I like in a wine . We were two people and shared 6 tapas. Then we had this delicious desert she recommended of chocolate covered bananas ! All I can say is WOW!

The only terrible experience we had was eating at this restaurant. We had to wait an hour to be served our dinner. It only arrived after we asked our waitress when our dinner would be done (there was one waitress for over 30 tables!!!). When we were finally served our extremely overpriced meal, our first bite revealed both of our... More

El Farol has been a mainstay on Canyon Road for decades, and is still a fun experience. The current tapas selection is diverse, and the portions are generous. Paella entree was very large (would suggest sharing between 2 people.) Fun, casual music completed the evening!

Many thanks to El Farol restaurant for introducing me to dining on tapas while enjoying flamenco singing and dancing. It easily could have been a cheesy tourist experience, but instead it was a truly enjoyable evening. El Farol is the oldest restaurant in Santa Fe- just my type of atmosphere. Choosing tapas throughout the evening with the advice of the... More

Though I've enjoyed drinks or meals several times on the outside front patio of El Farol, I'd never noticed the back patio. A whole group of (we who are artists and gallery owners) made memories with a riotous dinner on the covered back patio. Flamenco dancers practiced on the steps adjacent to where we sat, a breeze blew through, the... More

Highly overrated. I emailed them to ask about a reservation weeks in advance of our trip and they never got back to me, so we made our reservation by phone once we got to Santa Fe. We found El Farol's service to be lacksadaisical and the food quality disappointing. We arrived 15 minutes early and were seated, as we specifically... More
