Excellent Sushi, very Pricey

The sushi was terrific, the rolls were creative, but the prices were astronomical. If money is no object, order all the unusual rolls, you'll love it. As said, it is quite pricey.

I have traveled to Japan many times and find Shohko Cafe to be comparable to fine restaurants in Japan. The sushi is the freshest and the ramen noodles are truly authentic. The owner chef went to Japan just to study the making of this dish with all of it nuances. The broth is outstanding and the noodles are all made... More

I have been coming here since I was a child and have always enjoyed it. The food is great and so is the service, they have a little bit of everything from Japanese cuisine and is good no matter what.

This is an institution in Santa Fe and has been rightly considered the best Japanese/Sushi restaurant in N.M. Alas this is no longer it IMHO (see Hattori, Taos, NM). Have there been decent sushi I've eaten outside Japan? Yes (Sushi Sake in Dallas area and a restaurant in Atlanta in addition to places in BKK and Hong Kong come to... More

We had the California Roll with real crab, the Rainbow Roll, and the Tokyo Roll. All were well prepared; my wife thought the quality was better than at our local sushi joint, while I'm still undecided. We also tried two flights of sake -- the "Flight to Heaven," three top drawer brands, and the "First Class Flight," one step down.... More

We waited over 1 hour to get our sushi on a Wednesday night. The service was poor at best. The sushi was average. I have no idea what some of these people are talking about. We will not be returning. To make things worse the waitress took it upon herself to add a $40 tip. We were a group of... More

The hijiki seaweed salad is amazing. Enoki mushrooms were good as well as the vegetable udon - lots of fresh, still a bit crisp, veggies.

My wife and daughter and I had trouble finding an appealing place to eat in the central plaza area but my daughter likes Japanese and Chinese food so I searched on my phone and lo and behold, Shohko was close by. We went inside, were warmly greeted by the hostess and ended up having a very nice meal. I don't... More

A couple of gals and I went in on Feb 24, 2015 at 6:15. It was during restaurant week so we were happy to try the special menu. It took the waitress 10 minutes to bring us water after we asked for it when we sat down. My friends and I all ordered off of the special menu. Two of... More

The special dinner menu for restaurant week has the fixed price of $30 and states it is a $49 value and it is absolutely true. The menu offers you a choice of three each of appetizers, main course and desserts. I chose the seaweed sesame salad as my appetizer, the assortment of 15 piece chef choice sashimi and the three...
