The menu is impressive, and the tempura was great. We were disappointed, though, with the sushi. Had heard raves from friends in the past, so maybe it was just a bad night. Ambiance, service were quite good.

The only downside to eating here is if you are on a budget. Everything is superb and it is tempting to linger and sample many items off the menu.

We've been several times recently and two things seem very consistent: The food is wonderful. A large menu and almost everything has met or exceeded expectation. The service is slow. I think this is because the kitchen is a long way from the tables, complicated by a long, narrow path leading there, with the sushi bar on one side and... More

We were driving through Santa Fe on our way home and stopped for dinner at one of my longtime favorites, the Shohko Café. I am gone there for meals for over 30 years and have never been disappointed. My favorite is shrimp tempura which is always more than I can eat and a wonderful mixture of shrimp and assorted veggies.... More

Menu extensive, food good. Service left quite a bit to be desired. I got my order a good 15 minutes before my husband got his. Waitress blamed sushi chefs for backup, but there were multiple orders, including ours, sitting on counter. They lost business because we would have ordered more. Would not go back. Other sushi places in town.

We moved recently and were mourning the loss of one of the great/noodle houses in the Midwest with home made noodles in many ways that always made us feel better. Shohko has been a wonderful place for sushi and even if you doubt that fresh can be had three states from the ocean, it can and is. But they recently... More

Quality sushi prepared by those that care and presented with style is one of life's best pleasures. And even more so in the land-locked confines of New Mexico. Shohko was an new experience, recommended by local friends who urged me not to miss dining there. Their advice was spot on. I'm generally death on sushi, enjoying everything from unagi to... More

The first Japanese "sushi" restaurant in New Mexico. It is frequented by movie stars, politicians, movers and shakers. Yes, it is super well established venue. Yes, it is own and operated by Japanese family. The food is often great at Shohko. Their seafood gets used up early, there may be some out of stock, but that tells you that most... More

I'm not sure that this place needs another 5 star review but living in Denver and having access to Sushi Den (arguably one of the best sushi houses in the US), plus having worked in a Japanese restaurant for a number of years, I feel pretty qualified to add a couple of comments about Shokho-Cafe. I have no idea how... More
