The Famous Green Chile Cheeseburgers are back! John and Bonnie Eckre, formerly of Bobcat Bite, are taking their food to the next level at the new Santa Fe Bite located inside Garrett's Desert Inn on Old Santa Fe Trail. In addition to their savory Green Chile Cheeseburgers, Santa Fe Bite features fresh tacos, fish and chips, sandwiches, a choice of French or sweet potato fries and a little something they like to call 'The Big Bite' that comes with a side of buttery garlic bread. Creamy milkshakes and homemade lemonade are just some of the sweet treats popping up on their new menu. Also, we are now serving beer and wine. Santa Fe Bite opens at 8am during the week which means early birds can sample tasty Breakfast menu offerings like hot cornmeal pancakes with maple syrup, brioche French toast with maple caramel sauce and house-made biscuits with Mom's gravy. Spend a leisurely Sunday outside at Santa Fe Bite. The new Brunch menu includes eggs benedict, frittatas and huevos rancheros.

Good food, good service

We ate breakfast and dinner here. The atmosphere is informal. The service was good, and it was fun to look at all the photos and posters of days gone by. People who were probably locals were at adjacent tables and seemed to know the wait staff.

There are many great hamburgers in Santa Fe, but my husband and I love the one served at Santa Fe Bite. Also great are the homemade chips and home fries. Save your appetite. These burgers are huge, spicy and delicious.

The famous green chili cheeseburger was possibly in my top 5 burgers of all time - succulent, flavoursome and cooked to perfection. I will definitely be returning in my future travels to the US :) Service was great, and considering the crowd of people waiting when we visited, the wait time was very reasonable. Recommended to all!

Ambiance is like a 50's diner. Hamburgers in particular were excellent and prices correct. Location and parking are very convenient to downtown.

Santa Fe Bite just moved into town from Bobcat Bite and what an improvement. Still the fabulous green chili cheeseburger they've always made, but even better. And the new space at Garnett's Motel, right in the center of town, is awesome.

The green chilie burger was wonderful. Service adequate. Steak sandwich was ok. People nearby being reuse to staff may have been why service was just ok.

If you ever were a fan of the old Hoof and Heels restaurant in Santa Fe on Rodeo Road, you will know these burgers. Best in New Mexico, that I've found so far. Yeah I said it, BETTER than Laguna Burger. And not bad prices for Santa Fe, either.

Admittedly, our expectations were high -- in part because the restaurant advertises it's burger as one of the best in the US. It's good, maybe even very good, but it wasn't remarkably better than others. The cole slaw, potato salad, and fries are likewise solid but not inspired.

Bad reviews; must be competition.....Green Chile Cheeseburger can't be beat. All you tourists need to go and have one of the best burgers in America. Look it up and see all the national media, films, etc. that proclaim the burger as splendid. This would be my last meal if I had a choice. See you soon Bonnie...Richard from Rio Rancho

Santa Fe Bite's Green Chile Cheeseburger was on the list of Best Burgers in Every State by Thrillist. After seeing it on the list I had to try it and see for myself. Food: I ordered the Green Chile Cheeseburger (obviously!) and it did not disappoint. It really is worthy of the title of Best Burger In The State. I... More
