Back in Santa Fe after 2 yrs. away, lunched at Il Piatto to confirm past experiences of their innovative, bargain 'fixed price' lunch (3 courses, $16.95 plus tax/tip/beverage). OUR recent experience was excellent: appetizers of 'whole-leaf Caesar' w/anchovies & garden salad w/lemon basil vinaigrette; followed by my squid ink spaghetti w/sauteed calamari, and her grilled trout filet w/mushrooms, polenta and... Waste of money! Not good and over-priced! The portions are tiny! Waitstaff is not friendly and manager did not care that we were not satisfied with our food and service.

My roasted chicken was excellent and I would go back just for that. There were four of us and the others were disappointed in their meals. The waitress was lovely and accommodating. The restaurant itself is very loud and not a great place to be able to converse if it is fairly busy.

Il Piatto offers special prix fixe luncheons and dinners, as well as a happy hour. The 3 course lunch is always exciting, as is the after 9:00 PM dinner. During "Happy Hour" from 4:30 to 6:00, all appetizers and half portion pastas (the duck papadelle is rich and magnificent!) are half price, with half price glasses of wine. The food... More

- an appetizer/salad, entree and dessert for $32/person was a good value; can substitute a second appetizer for the dessert; - our waiter was new and struggled a bit; he forgot about a couple of minor requests. - the "special" white wine was tasted by all 4 of us; we sent it back; ended up with a bottle of "Educated... Restaurant was recommended by a local (transplanted from Long Island NY 30+ years ago) as a [--] Italian restaurant. My husband had a trout dish that was just about the best he's ever had (and believe me, we've eaten a lot of seafood!). Great wine list, but a bit pricey, so we were glad to be there before 6pm for... More

The place was VERY noisy inside and worse with the sounds of horns, sirens and motorcycles from busy Marcy Street. It was impossible to carry on a romantic conversation. I think we got the same waiter as mybagsrpackd got the night before. The food was overpriced and the servings were small but the dishes were good with one exception. The... More

Based on good reviews here and the closeness to our hotel, Il Piatto was out choice for dinner last night, but we will not be going back. The restaurant looks charming and the interior is welcoming and pleasant with lots of while tablecloths and burnished wood. Our waiter was excellent at first, offering good advice re. wines and prompt attention,... More

I've been eating at Piatto for 8 years and it just keeps getting better! The Prix Fixe menu is the best deal in all of Santa Fe! Too many people complain about it being too busy. That just means they're doing well. Love the gnocchi and calamari.
