Always Good and Dependable

I just took an out of town guest to Il Piatto, a guest who's a world traveler. He raved about their creative preparation of Italian food---not the "pasta and gravy" type, though he also raved about their duck pasta. I wasn't surprised. Food was so so. Service was not good. Atmosphere was nice. The real put off for us was the lack of service. The waiter was so disconnected.

Il Piatto is one of my husband's favorite restaurants and we've had meals in many of the world's best. The chicken livers are his favorite. I like the richly sauced gnocchi. Desserts are sophisticated concoctions that don't rely on sugar for their delicious brilliance. And the cost is almost a scandal as a pre fix lunch costs $16.95! Three expertly... More

Just attended a group function here. The service was crisp! The meal was great. Salad fresh, pasta tasty and desert was too sweet (not a bad thing). Wine list a tad on the pricey side.

We went to Il Piatto for the first time during restaurant week and had a great experience. Delicious food and attentive service. They were easily able to accomodate gluten sensitivity. We had a reservation and were seated right on time. Would recommend based on our experience, though our expectations may have been a bit lower than others' given that it... More

As locals we have eaten here on and off over the years. I thought because it was Monday the chef was off for the evening. The service was very poor, in fact two of our party had to ask for water half way through the meal. The specials were awful, carbonara like glue, duck partly cooked and tough like gristle.... More

For a former excellent restaurant (service and food), I was disappointed to return and find neither excellent food or service. It took close to 15 min before we saw a waiter to order our drinks, and the food received was not what we ordered (e.g. asked if egg was mixed in the carbonara, waiter said yes, but I got a... More

We arrived early for our reservation. We were told we could wait outside until closer to our reservation. We had hoped to have a drink at the bar before dinner. But instead we waited outside. They did seat us on time. We found the food to be pricey and disappointing. The service was lacking. We found the waiter to be... More

My husband of 1 day and I were fortunate enough to dine at this wonderful restaurant. Initially, even with a reservation, they sat us next to the bar. But with a gentle request to sit in the dining room, we were moved to a nice table near the window but against the wall. It was a cold night with snow... More
