Okay, this is NOT a place to buy high-cacao chocolate bars; it is more. SO much more!! First, they have "drinking chocolate". Everything from the traditional Central American Native style to those more updates. Sweet to savory to spicy. It is AMAZING! They have many specialty, hand-made baked goods, candies, carmels and ice creams. Have a light & late lunch,... More

Sick and tired of waxy tasting chocolates and watery hot chocolate drinks? Try Kakawa Chocolate House in Santa Fe. It specializes in recreating authentic drinking chocolate, sourced from ancient recipes, and in creating their own unique chocolate elixirs. This means: little cups of pure chocolate spiced with herbs, chili, nuts, citrus, even flowers. They also sell chocolates and brownies. When we... More

We are from Japan, and visited New Mexico for the first time in April 2013. It was snowing and we stopped by this place to get warm. All employees are knowledgeable about each chocolate drinks and gave us plenty of samples to try. The owner is also very nice, has good sense of humor and gave us good advice on... More

If you are a chocolate lover, you must go a little out of your way (near Canyon Rd) to experience this place. The chocolate elixir drinks were awesome and you can try each one before deciding on the best one for you. They also had a large variety of gluten free, fresh baked chocolate treats and candy too. This was... More

Fabulous, chili infused chocolate concoctions!! Drink it up, or select fine truffles to enjoy later. The variety is amazing. Chocolate powdered mix also available to take home for future enjoyment. A cute little restaurant/bakery setting.

We stopped in based on reviews on trip advisor and had such a great experience we came back the next day. Plenty of samples of the drinking chocolate to be sure you find a flavor you like of the unique flavor combos. Also have wonderful looking brownies, truffles and chocolates. Could be addicting if lived here!

Our friends who live in Santa Fe told us we had to check out this place. It was the best suggestion ever! We had the Mayan Chocolate Drink, and it sent us into orbit! YUM!!!! They had 8 different flavors of drinking chocolate that day, and they were happy to let us sample any of them. Since my wife got... More

Visited during on a honeymoon road trip from Dallas and it was my favorite stop. I wasn't supposed to "plan" any stops for us, as we were trying to keep it spontaneous, but I had read so many enticing reviews before hand, that I had to try it out. I am so glad that we did. We walked to Kakawa... More

Enter the unique quaint house of chocolate.... Enjoy the aroma of chocolate in the air, take in the sight of specialty chocolate candies while sipping on a warm cocoa sample, as thick and tasty as melted chocolate bars; and view happy people sitting in a bistro style cafe; high on the decadent chocolate of their choice. Ahhhh.... Yes, it is... More

Friendly service, cute shop, they give samples. Good drinking chocolate. A little pricey but that's ok. AND, did I say, friendly service? So nice to go in to a place where you feel like they want you to be there.
