Description: The Plaza Cafe on the Santa Fe Plaza is a historic restaurant that has reopened after a fire in Sep 2010. It is the dining hub on the Plaza. It reopened last week and I would like to write a review of my experience. Joe Shaffer

Green chiles are the spicier at this retro-themed establishment so I'm told, but the red are pretty good as well. Try the green chile cheeseburger and you won't be disappointed.

Stopped in for lunch while shopping in Old Town. My husband had the club sandwich and I got breakfast (eggs, bacon, toast, hash browns). The food was delicious and servings were generous. We ordered tea and it was a flavored variety so be aware if, like us, you prefer plain iced tea. Even though the restaurant was busy, we were... More

We were quite disappointed in the quality of the food at this iconic Santa Fe Plaza spot. The funky ambiance has survived the fire, but if it is good diner food you want, go to the Plaza Cafe South across from the Regency movie theater where the food is excellent!

I was so happy to see The Plaza Cafe had re-opened after a number of years of closure (after a fire?). I love the mole' enchiladas. Portions are enormous and a bit pricey ($14.95)---so you may want to share. Chips and salsa trio also bring a charge of $7.95. Santa Fe seems to be getting expensive beyond reason in some... More

I'm glad to hear you still love our food, Jack, but I don't want anyone to leave feeling like they didn't get their money's worth. Either way, I'm glad to hear we can hope to have you back every now and then. Cheers, Daniel, Owner More

Hesitant to try initially, my husband and I returned after our first breakfast at this great diner. What won him over was the outstanding green salsa. "They should bottle and sell the stuff!" He enjoyed this house specialty on chilequiles one morning, with huevos rancheros the next. I tried the special blue corn pancake with pignons and enjoyed its hearty... More

It's hard to say no to that Salsa, and I'm glad it brought you guys back in! I appreciate the kind review, and we hope we'll see you both again soon -- oh, and if you have any thoughts on how we can earn that fifth star the next time around, don't hesitate to let us know! This is an old time diner- very retro in its ambience with an extensive menu and delicious food. The service was excellent and the prices were very reasonable. The restaurant is on the Plaza close to everything that you would want to see and purchase. It's an excellent choice for lunch.

Although the look is the same, the food certainly is not! They should quit trying to be modern and we'll I am not sure what they are trying for! The menu is very scattered with a very small New Mexican menu, a very small comfort food choice and some attempt at a mix. I tried the New Mexican meatloaf which... More

I'm sad to hear that some of our menu updates aren't quite up your alley, especially when it sounds like you've been a loyal customer for a long time. I'm glad the chicken fingers have held true, but I wish the meatloaf and mashed potatoes had lived up to expectation. I know we've still got what it takes to show... More

Had the best mole bowl. Service was great, atmosphere was fun, and wish I had room to try one of the pies I stared at through lunch. Service was friendly and owner is hands on in a good way.

Ever wonder what it might be like to find a retro-diner with authentic Mexican recipes blended with Americana diner dishes? Yup. They did it and it is a "don't miss this place" stop for either breakfast, lunch or dinner by the square. I never go to Santa Fe without at least one meal at The Famous Plaza Cafe. This last... More

We got tired of hotel breakfasts so decided to try the Plaza Cafe. The food was so good, we decided to have dinner there as well!
