Fantastic menu. Chile is the real thing. There is nothing like the CHIMAYO chile at this restaurant. The menu is extensive and everything that I've tried from the menu was excellent. Try the lamb chicharrones for a change from regular New Mexican salsa appetizer. Ask Tim the owner for his family history and you will be enchanted. The atmosphere is... More

The food was what I expected. My 'airplane chicken breast' in chile caribe was flavorful and moist, with interesting sides of pueblo pudding and greens. Natilla desset was light and delicious. Wines were so-so. Especially disappointing was the service. When we asked the waitress what the happy hour special warm, she had to go ask someone, then returned to report... More

We ended up here for dinner at the recommendation of our hotel and because we were looking for something local. This is definitely a "local" place, down to the interior decorations and the earnestness of the servers. The food was great (don't fill up on the chips, but do get the guacamole to go with them), and the ambiance warm... More

Cute little house. Pretty standard New Mexican menu offerings. All very good. Not earth shattering but quite good. Note that they have only a beer and wine license and the margaritas are made with "agave wine" which is surprisingly not bad.

I am not one to be so crude when it comes to naming my review title, but this restaurant was awful. The overall atmosphere was nice, but the service was absolutely ridiculous. At one point, our server left us sitting for half an hour, and we had to ask another service to take our next drink order. The place was... More

I do not understand the favorable ratings for this place. The atmosphere may be cute and the drinks large, but the food just doesn't cut it. The restaurant was not busy when we arrived, but we were stunned that our food was brought to the table within minutes of ordering. As soon as we tasted, we understood why. The chicken... More

We were promptly seated and got our beer and water in a minute. This restaurant has real mineral water (Perrier) which many does not have (Club Soda instead). Chips and salsa came next with an excuse they did not have any Guacamole. What? At an Mexican restaurant? We had Enchiladas and Fajitas, very tasty. And surprise, now there was Guacamole... More

This came highly recommended by the hotel concierge so we arrived (sans reservations) with very high expectations. We were immediately seated at a patio table, which had a kitschy (albeit fun) theme. There were very few patrons so we were surprised by the amount of time it took to receive service. The chips and salsa were very good yet the... More

One of, if not the best, blue corn cheese enchiladas I've ever had! The blue corn was exceptional. Plus, being a bit off the plaza, they weren't insanely busy like a lot of restaurants are that are right at the plaza. Also, one has to get "Christmas" as both the green chile and the red chile were equally delicious.

In the land of super-hot chile, I had to be careful! While I wanted to try authentic New Mexican food, I had to avoid dishes that were too hot or spicy. Fortunately, Casa Chimayo had no problem with my special request--and the atmosphere was quirky, colorful, and charming. The chicken tortillas with onions, peppers, beans, salsa and sour cream was...
