This place served us the best meal of our trip. The cocktails were excellent and the food amazing! Sea scallops were mouth watering and the fish of the day was enjoyed by my husband. A little bit hard to find and doesn't look like anything great from the street. Trust me - go in! Beautiful bamboo patio and excellent service.... More

As other reviewers have stated, it's a little hard to find. You park in what appears to be an industrial parking lot but off in the corner is the "backdoor" to the restaurant. It has two seating areas. The inside is a little noisy, and while the outside is quieter and has a beautiful landscaped area; it can get cold... More

Hubby ordered the NY steak and it was done to perfection. I ordered the vegetarian platter and it too was delicious. Everything was presented really well. A place weevils surely visit more often if we lived on San Juan Island!

Thisl restaurant isn't easy to find, but it's worth the effort. We had excellent smoked salmon soup, scallops, and an usual farro salad that was outstanding. We really liked the casual, contemporary decor and excellent service. We had one of the best Pinot Noir we've had in recent memory - very affordable by today's standards. We would highly recommend this... More

Let me start by saying we found the restaurant just fine, but that's because we read all the reviews with people saying it was hard to find and giving directions. It's pretentious to hide your restaurant from your diners, but whatever. The service was inconsistent at best. The server at the bar was clearly displeased with either us or her... More

From the approach (through a gravel parking lot, around a warehouse building), there is no inkling of this little gem that's tucked away in a landscaped little corner. The menu is not large (5-6 appetizers, and a similar number of entrees), but it is thoughtfully prepared using locally-sourced ingredients where possible. Preparation and presentation were top notch - a little... More

The location is a little strange, but once you get inside the enclosure it is quite lovely eating outside under the umbrellas. We were there in nice weather and the evening was perfect. The food was delicious and the service very attentive. I think it was my favorite dinner in Friday Harbor and we were there 4 nights.

This place has the food scene wrapped up in Friday Harbor. Other than Coho which was better for a romantic dinner, this place has the best food and vibe. Meal was very good not fantastic but had a nice variety of options. Our service was very good as well. Live music ended a little early for a Saturday night which... More

This hard-to-find restaurant is tucked away in the corner of a warehouse parking lot and you''d never know it was there without a review like this or a tip from a local. While there is no view, the grounds are pleasant with a mix of indoor and outdoor seating amongst a garden-type setting. Reservations are recommended as the seating is... More

Living up to its name, the Backdoor Kitchen is indeed at the back of the street. It's a gem! I had their soup of the day, ahi tuna and vegetarian platter. All were divine! The staff was awesome. We were the last to leave the restaurant but the staff remained pretty nice about it. Would totally recommend this to everyone.... More
