Description: Built as an addition to the original hotel and later remodeled by San Antonio architect Atlee B. Ayres in 1912, the Colonial Room Restaurant reflects the prevailing neoclassical style of its time. Decades of elaborate balls and parties have been hosted in this room.Among the celebrities who have dined here are Presidents Grant and McKinley, Robert E. Lee, and French actress Sarah Bernhardt. The Colonial Room Restaurant's famous mango ice cream was served at both of President Clinton’s inaugurations. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, the Colonial Room Restaurant features a fabulous noontime brunch and traditional entrees such as prime rib au jus and lamb shank with linguini. Don't miss the popular Sunday brunch buffet, which tastes even better at a table in the garden courtyard.

If it wasnt for the guitar player, I probably wouldnt come back. He is very entertaining. I went there for their Sunday Brunch. The place was half empty and it took them about 10 minutes to seat me. Service was very unattentive. My juice glass was empty for a very long time until I had to ask for refill. Other... More

If you want a phenomenal breakfast, go here! The best Eggs Benedict and the Breakfast Buffet with Omelet Station, for approx. $16.95 per adult and much less for kiddos, can not be beat!! You can also order off the very reasonable menu. Lunch is fantastic also, as well as dinner. Do not forget the Chocolate Chip Cookies!! The service is... More

First off, complimentary, 'Valet' Parking! The first person to greet us, in the Colonial Room, had no smile, just 'Raw', flat countenance, however, not rude, just not warm and welcoming, sort of mechanical. Our Breakfast Buffet was pretty good, as was our Waitress. The atmosphere was for the most part, suitable. My biggest complaint...the tables are too small, for the... More

My husband and I recently traveled to San Antonio while we were visiting family in Texas from our hometown of Rochester, NY. We decided to visit this restaurant for lunch on the first day of our visit Tuesday, April 2, 2013 on both the recommendations from Trip Advisor as well as endorsement of AAA tour guide. The restaurant was not... More

We selected the restaurant because of the mostly excellent ratings it received on TripAdvisor. The setting in the hotel is great, as is the atmosphere in the restaurant. Service was fine, but the food just didn't live up to expectations.

She coughed all over her hands then grabbed our plates to pull them away, same with our orange juice glasses. I am not sure if she used the same glasses, washed her hands or took any precautions whatsoever. It was pretty gross. It seemed like a very elderly staff that had had enough with us "younger groups". The food itself... More

The restaurant is located in the historic Menger Hotel. It is bright and airy with a gracious Southern atmosphere. Buffet is offered for breakfast, lunch, and Sunday brunch. The food is fresh and deliciously prepared. Prices are in line with other fine hotel restaurants. It is well worth a visit, whether you are staying at the hotel or just looking... More

I don't know if there is greater value for your money anywhere. Sunday brunch especially is a wonderful experience. Always a good variety of choices. Every dish I have tried over the years has been prepared very well. Buffet's aren't always the best, but this one is always kept fresh.

The Colonial Room has an excellent breakfast buffet. We go quite often to San Antonio and always enjoy our stay at the Menger and having the Colonial Room inside is a definite plus. Wonderful food.
