Built as an addition to the original hotel and later remodeled by San Antonio architect Atlee B. Ayres in 1912, the Colonial Room Restaurant reflects the prevailing neoclassical style of its time. Decades of elaborate balls and parties have been hosted in this room.Among the celebrities who have dined here are Presidents Grant and McKinley, Robert E. Lee, and French actress Sarah Bernhardt. The Colonial Room Restaurant's famous mango ice cream was served at both of President Clinton’s inaugurations. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, the Colonial Room Restaurant features a fabulous noontime brunch and traditional entrees such as prime rib au jus and lamb shank with linguini. Don't miss the popular Sunday brunch buffet, which tastes even better at a table in the garden courtyard.

Great Brunch!

Best Brunch ever! Roast Beef carving station. Omlettes made to order. Lots of breakfast meats including Eggs Benedict on the line. Wonderful chocolate mousse for dessert. Great staff.

The buffet was a bit high priced for us (I know this is not a cheap hotel.. but we had many more awesome things to spend our vacation money on) so for breakfast, we just ordered off the menu. The selection was fair and had a bit of everything... I know, I know if I would have just got the... More

Beautiful, uncrowded room, excellent, attentive and friendly staff! We only ate breakfast here, mainly because the dinners were a little pricey, but next time--and there will be a next time--we plan on dressing up and enjoying a fine dining experience, and hopefully even trying a lunch or two. I enjoyed the Huevos Rancheros, and the breakfast taco. My wife had... More

The food was amazing. The breakfast buffet had more items I could think of. All this was in a beautiful, elegant atmosphere, but for a very reasonable price.

OK... this restaurant has a couple of things going for it: First class service...charming atmosphere...and well... that's about it. Though the house Merlot was better than average. After that: Chicken Picatta had a nice sauce with capers but the chicken was over-cooked. The Weiner Snitzel was to pass for...this area is famous for this dish but not at this restaurant.... More

My husband and I ate the Colonial Room and loved it. I had a Reuben and he had the lunch buffet. Everything was pure elegance and the food was excellent. We will definitely be going back next time we are in San Antonio.

This was pretty normal food (we went for breakfasts and brunch), and attentive service. BUT the location and space is beautiful, especially if you can get one of the seats by the courtyard.

The food here was really good, but we were the ONLY ones in the dining room on the night we went, which was odd, as it was Fiesta week and we went around 7:30PM

I attended a pre-paid dinner here as part of a ghost tour. I requested new york strip and was not asked how I wanted it prepared. It was inconsistently cooked- rare in some parts, well done in others- and was tough. It came with fresh green beans, carrots and mashed potatoes. The beans and potatoes were good, but carrots mushy... More
