We had a large group at this restaurant, and the family fish platter was ordered for everyone. The service was reasonably fast, the food was excellent, and prices are reasonable.

After two week sin San Antonio eating bland and lumpen food, what joy to be taken to J Anthony's. A small unpretentious restaurant, with friendly staff (none of the fawning sycophantic nonsense so common in American restaurants) and homely and convivial atmosphere. The food , the foood .....SUPERB! Fresh ingredients, simply prepared, with subtle and delicious combinations of flavours. Definitely... More

My first visit to this restaurant will be my last. I had the grilled red snapper. I was very disappointed . It was obviously frozen and had been over cooked. The two other people with me were served their food and I waited an add'l 10 minutes to get my red snapper. The fish was tough and rubber like. I... More

When we first walked in, we were thinking it was going to be "fast food" style like long john silver's back home. We were wrong. :-) Prepared fresh and served on real plates! Fish chowder was great and so were the jalapeno hushpuppies (we ordered a 2nd round of the puppies!) If you want seafood and don't wan't to pay... More

Not positive it's frozen food but tasted like it. The oysters were over cooked, crab cakes pure filler and fish ok. The fish soup was outstanding. Service even off peek times seemed a little slow and uncaring.

We went to J Anthony's with a Groupon. I am glad I did not pay full price. The shrimp appeared to have been cut in half before they were fried (they were never jumbo!) The fish was dried out. The oyster was large and fair. Potatos were bad, shrimp sauce bad, fried mushrooms were straight out of the freezer. It... More
