Off the beaten path, we were looking for something different than the chain food eateries. Got to TT around 1245PM on a weekday and went right to a booth. Yeah, it was crowded with the local lunchtime folks but almost as we sat down our server was there. We ordered and within 20 minutes, our meal was on the table.... More

My husband and I wanted to visit a Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives restaurant while we were in San Antonio so we went to the Tip Top. We asked what was popular and were told the onion rings, chicken fried steak, pork, enchiladas, and fried chicken. We ordered the onion rings, a chicken fried steak, and the pork. The onion rings... I've lived in San Antonio 35 years and have heard of this restaurant over the years but never been there. It is not exactly in my path of travel or residence but recently went to an event close by and decided to see what all the talk was about. The parking is right off a busy street and small spaces... After watching this restaurant on TV I thought it must be great because the host made it sound amazing. I ordered the chicken fried steak, onion rings, tacos, and burger. The fried steak was lacking in flavor but significant in size. The fries and onion rings went well. The tacos don't bother. Over seasoned with cumin and under stuffed. Taco... More

Had heard about the Tip Top for years. This is my first time to eat there. It was about 11:15 on a Tuesday. No wait at all. Sat at the counter as I was a party of one. Everybody was friendly and conversational. That covers both staff and other customers. I had a pork chop, okra, carrots, and mashed potatoes.... More

Great place, we went on a Sunday afternoon. No lines. The staff is incredibly attentive and the food is really to die for. They are known for their chix fried steak, so that's what I had... Wasn't disappointed. I have heard that the meatloaf was great too (that wasn't an option that day). I have heard the line goes around... More

We visited the Tip Top on a Saturday night. We went early 6pm, anticipating a big crowd. Although it wasn't too crowded when we arrived we had to wait for about 20 minutes since every booth and table is geared toward a party of four. We could have sat down immediately but we would have had to sit separately. This... More
