The chicken fried steak is huge and the BEST ONION RINGS IN TOWN . The only thing I did not like is the bathroom are outside . It is worth the trip ...
We've been going to Tip Top for years. The food is typically very good and the prices are reasonable. However our last visit was disappointing. We ordered the dozen fried oyster plate which was a mistake. The oysters were large, which was nice, but came to us barely warm. What a waste! The restaurant wasn't terribly busy so I can... More
The staff is great the food is classic dinner and very tasty. This is a dinner that has passes from Grandparents to the Grand daughter with out losing any of the receipts and reasonable prices.Overall this is a great place for a good meal at reasonable price.
We had a co-worker recommend the Tip Top Cafe so we went there for lunch on Sunday. Once inside there's the choice of tables or booths. The cashier said to sit anywhere so we picked a booth. Inside the windows were shuttered, and as I looked around it seemed thet this could be a hometown cafe anywhere in America. The... More
Food and price was good, cake was on the dry side. They don't take plastic so take cash money. I will be back. Service was fast and good
Ok, Triple D(Diners, Drive Inns, & Dives) rated this place and although we had to drive a few miles from the downtown area, decided to try it anyway. It certainly did not disappoint. After being seated we both looked at the menu and decided(although known for their Chicken Fried Steak) on the rib eye steak for only 12.95. Nice dinner... More
Reading the reviews on this site before visiting San Antonio, it seemed that people either really, really liked this restaurant or they really really didn't. Put me in the "loved it" category. Service was quick, especially since my visit was early in the evening and since I was travelling alone, a seat at the counter was easy. I initially considered... More
We had heard so many good things from Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, it was suppose to be a highlight of our dining experiences.... Not so. The fried chicken goes down as the worst I've eaten, (all batter that was mostly burnt, dried chicken inside), accompanied by a scoop of cold potatoes that tasted like they came from a box -... More
Fried chicken was over cooked and dried out. It had way too much batter. Not well seasoned. My hamburger was just ordinary. We shared onion ring. Big, tasteless order.
This restaurant is a landmark in San Antonio noted for its onion rings and fried chicken livers. Most plates offer a gererous portion of food so when you go, go with an appetite. This is one of my favorite places to eat in San Antonio and I go especially for the fried chicken livers and the onion rings.
