Lunch 12/31

A step back in time, dark paneling, deer heads on the wall. This is not a light bright place when you go in but dang fine eats. Had the Thursday special meatloaf and a great piece of pie for dessert. Don't expect much ambiance but you will have a good meal. Blue Plate Diner in spades, I'll be... read more

We saw this place listed on Diners Drive ins and dives. It's a cool old place. Not much has changed here in 30 years. It's not very large. Could be a wait... We had the open face roast beef. This was very tasty with brown gravy and mashed potatoes. Didn't care for the white toasted bread. The rolls looked good... More

We like to try diners especially featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, & Dives and this seemed like a good idea for us. My husband got the chicken fried steak with fried yellow squash and a salad. I ordered the chicken fried chicken with broccoli and cheese and a salad. We also ordered a half order of onion rings for an appetizer.... More

Over the years we had heard about the chicken fried steak at this place so we thought we would give it a try. The waitress was really nice and provided good attentive service, but the food was substandard at best, and took a long time took arrive. In San Antonio when you spend 15 bucks at lunch, you expect some... More

There are so many wonderful things to choose from her, but for lunch the pimento cheese sandwiches are super. The desserts are also great. They were out of the super meringue pies for our late lunch, but the bread pudding was delicious.

Glad to see the small town restaurant in a big town feel is still there at the Tip Top Cafe. Now with 2 locations, they have moved to being open 7 days a week. Huge chicken fried steaks and a monster stack of onion rings will satisfy anyone. I also like the fish specials they have. If you are from... More

Nice traditional cafe - good food(onion rings were excellent), good atmosphere and good service. Place was packed but with the carpeting and curtains still very quiet and relaxing.

Revisited one of my old time favorites. Glad to say that after 30 yrs this place is still great! Still one of the best chicken fried steaks in Texas. Onion rings and cream corn are excellent. One of the highlights of my recent visit to my home state. Am relocating back to Texas after being gone for over 35 yrs.... More
