HOME COOKED MEAL

What can i say about this place that hasn't been said before. Its an institution in San Antonio restaurants. Great home cooked meals and awesome pies. Step back in time and enjoy. Hint: Get there just before they open at 11am or be prepared to wait a while. Such a pleasant place to eat.

Food to die for. Chicken fried steak is dreamy. Seating can be difficult due to so many customers. Service is very good.

Everyone raves about Tip Top. Have only eaten there 3 times and every time I say I am not going back. I did not care for anything that I have gotten there. Chicken fried steak was very average as well as the potatoes and gravy. One friend had the pull pork and said it was good.

It had been several years since I visited this iconic San Antonio eatery. Our group of four arrived for an early Saturday supper. Within a few minutes there was a line of people waiting to get in. We started with an appetizer of fried onion rings. They were huge and tasty. Trying to keep my entree a little lighter, I... More

Off the beaten path, we were looking for something different than the chain food eateries. Got to TT around 1245PM on a weekday and went right to a booth. Yeah, it was crowded with the local lunchtime folks but almost as we sat down our server was there. We ordered and within 20 minutes, our meal was on the table.... More

My husband and I wanted to visit a Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives restaurant while we were in San Antonio so we went to the Tip Top. We asked what was popular and were told the onion rings, chicken fried steak, pork, enchiladas, and fried chicken. We ordered the onion rings, a chicken fried steak, and the pork. The onion rings... I've lived in San Antonio 35 years and have heard of this restaurant over the years but never been there. It is not exactly in my path of travel or residence but recently went to an event close by and decided to see what all the talk was about. The parking is right off a busy street and small spaces...
