Nicavids has long been a favorite, run by a young couple of culinary school graduates with help from their parents. Always a good sandwich, constructed with care and carrot-ginger soup that most reviews rave about. After not visiting for several months we had lunch yesterday. Found the restaurant under new management. Drastic decline! 45 minute wait for soup and sandwich... More

I had to get lunch in this area and decided on this bakery because the sign claimed "gourmet pastries, cakes, pies, bread and deli lunch". What I got was anything but gourmet. I ordered the Sicilian which was average at best. I would assume that a bakery would bake their own bread but these rolls came in big plastic bags,... More

I have been a regular at Nicavid's for many years. I went there several days ago and was very disappointed in the service and the ginger carrot soup that I absolutely love. The service was very slow and the soup was tasty but not served hot. In fact, one of the individuals in our party had to send it back... More

On a recent trip to San Antonio, we were taken to Nicavid's for lunch. Great choice. Wonderful selection of soups, salads and sandwiches, and great service. To go to a "deli" and get a great crème brûlée for dessert was a real treat - the caramel crust was done when it was ordered.. Good, basic lunch offerings done right. Well... More

We started eating here about ten years ago when our daughter was in school in SA and discovered it. The food is still excellent with a few new things added, and we'll visit every time we come to SA.

This is a great place to grab lunch. The interior is a little hole in the wallish- eat on the patio. The sandwiches are great tasting, a different take on the basics and big. You can easily split a whole one with someone. Pastries are really good too.

Nicavid's is a quaint little cafe shop that offers more than just sandwiches. Their pastries are fresh and delicious and their sandwiches are tasty. My only complaint is that they are not open on weekends!
