My first Chile Relleno (with chicken) was at this Alamo Cafe in the mid 1980's. It's my favorite because of the red sauce. The margaritas are very tasty, too. But the handmade fresh tortillas keep us coming back for more!!

This place was busy but we got fast enough. I ordered the brisket quesadillas. The meat was good but I wish there had been more of it. The tortilla soup was more like vegetable soup with a few pieces of chicken. I wasn't impressed. The tortillas brought to our table were great!

A friend of mine took me here in May 2014. I thought I would try the Tortilla Soup. I have had better. Their Tortilla Soup taste like it was made with enchilada sauce and chopped chicken fajitas thrown in. The only thing that tasted good in this meal was the crispy whole corn tortilla garnished with avocados a little cheese... More

Great food -- recommend sharing a plate as it's all the chips/salsa and free flour(fresh) tortillas one can eat. Very good Margaritas if one so indulges -- average prices and wait-staff always busy keeping chips/salsa and tortlillas filled at your table.

After a full day of shopping, etc., 2 puffed beef taco dinners and apple empanadas for dessert made for a tasty evening in our hotel room just across the interstate. Would highly recommend this busy place.

Must visit for the best chicken fried steak and tortillas ever. They have a tortillaria right there in the restaurant and you can watch them make them and then eat them!

I brought my Mum into Alamo Café because usually, it's consistent if anything. We got wait staff that was eager to please. Our Waiter took our order and he was literally 4 feet from where he could add in our order. We ordered 4 items (panchos w/ground beef, chicken ensalada, cheese enchilada, and chicken fajitas). Our Waiter even confirmed our... More

There are numerous Mexican restaurants in San Antonio and this is just another one. The food and service are average and nothing special is happening here. When this location opened years ago the food seemed better and the restaurant seemed more crowed and you had to wait. The food has gone down hill as has the service and numbers of... More
