Good chicken fried steak, queso and margaritas

I have been going to Alamo cafe for years when I visit San Antonio. Their queso and margaritas are excellent. They make their tortillas fresh on location and if for some reason you are not in the mood for Mexican food they have an excellent chicken fried steak. My only real complaint about this... read more

Tortillas are perfection. Handmade, hot, heavenly. Delicious endless chips and salsa. Crispy, flavorful puffy tacos. Enchiladas, sensational. Quesadillas, delectable. Fajitas, exceptional. Beans...oh my frijoles...they're SO good. Like lick the bowl good. Guacamole is addictive. Affordable. Outstanding service. Ok, all that...and then there's the Margarita. ORDER THIS. I recommend the strawberry. Best on the planet. San Antonio has countless good restaurants... More

So much salt in everything we ordered. It was terrible. Surprised I didn't have a stroke before we left. About a week ago we went to the location on 281 and the food was delicious. Salt level was perfect. Hoping it was just a bad visit on I-10, but I'll never eat there again.

Warm friendly greeting, hot chips and salsa immediately served, big selection on menu including puffy tacos.friendly servers.,all in all, a good place for a casual lunch or dinner. Very informal and family owned...always busy, but quick to get a table.

Been coming here since 1987 when I was a freshman in college :) it's such a comfort to know I can come back to SA and have at least ONE thing be the same!!! Great food that hasn't changed a bit, and polite, helpful servers and staff. Thanks Alamo Cafe for great memories and great food!!!

We love Alamo Cafe. We don't live in San Antonio, but when we have the opportunity while passing through, we always stop there. On this trip, our server was very attentive and did a great job. We had the chicken chipotle and sour cream enchiladas. Everyone was happy with their food (there were 4 of us). We especially like the... More

We always go to Alamo Café when we are in San Antonio. From appetizers to dessert, their offerings are delicious. The combo meals are great and if you're in the mood for fajitas, you can go wrong sharing a mixed beef and chicken platter. This trip we started with a bowl of queso, had cheese enchiladas with crispy beef tacos... More

Alamo cafe is the epitome of TexMex and has the best queso, tortillas, and margaritas. In a town that's all about Mexican food, I've had my share of so many variations, but Alamo Cafe is by far the best and my favorite. I've eaten here for 19 years and keep coming back!

We had lunch here - nothing remarkable, good or bad but portions were generous. Our server was excellent, however.

I stopped in at Alamo Cafe, just like I do most times I'm in San Antonio. The food is consistently good and the prices are excellent for what you receive. I had the sour cream chicken enchiladas - the chicken was a little dry but still tasty. And the margaritas were perfect. I'll definitely be back to Alamo Cafe, if... More
