Great varied menu, yummy desserts.

Earl Abel's continues to serve good quality food and the service is top notch. The portions are large and the house rolls are very good. Do not expect gourmet food, but you can choose from two Greek items, several Mexican dishes and all American. They pride themselves on the fried chicken and pies... read more

Since some of the family was away, my brother-in-law, nephew and I decided to eat at this restaurant. I understand this is the first time in years the restaurant has been opened for Christmas lunch . We arrived around 11:40 and had about a twenty minute wait. The menu was limited but two of us chose turkey and dressing with... More

What's for dinner Curly? The time worn likeness of a maritre'd greets you at the entrance and has been the "mascot" of EA for decades. I have actually seen people stop to ask Curly for a table and look rather befuddled when there is no answer . . . . that's right before they discover that Curly is a mannequin... More

We used to eat at Earl Abel's when it was on Broadway. The food at the new location does not disappoint. Their fried chicken is famously good.

I understand that it is an instutution in SA, so I gave it 3 tries before deciding it was really awful. The service is slow, even when it is empty. It takes 30-40 minutes to get your food. And then the food, it is, at best, cafeteria food, but, I have had cafeteria food that is a lot better. The... More

A San Antonio institution for delicious Texas style comfort food for more than half a century, Earl Abel's had to relocate for a Red McCombs condo project. We found them on Austin Highway. This is an oldy but goody just like the 50s rock and roll music they play. On a weekday for lunch we arrived early and watch the... More

A very retro, 50's style diner. They make the most wonderful fried chicken I have ever had and great bread. Their pies are also wonderful. I don't come here much for the other food and I don't like how much they vary their specials and what not however just the fried chicken to go and wonderfully pleasant employees is enough... More

My family and I were excited to eat at the new location. We hadn't been to San Antonio in years. Unfortunately, we did not get a chance. We were seated promptly, the restaurant was not busy, but then sat at our table for over 10 minutes without no one approaching our table to take our order. We weren't even served... More

We went out on a limb today, and decided to try a new place. Looked and sounded interesting in a travel magazine, so we went to try it. Sure glad we did!!! It was incredibly good, and we have found a new place to "have to go eat there" when we come to town. Best fried chicken we have had... More

We had a nice lunch here. The food is what one would expect. This place is a San Antonio tradition, and it is. Ice to see its return.
