A cut above the ordinary, and the seafood is excellent

Ernesto himself is likely to greet you at the door of this classy but unpretentious restaurant. The reference to "Mexican Specialties" may suggest it's just another Tex-Mex place, but it's 'way beyond that. They are especially good at seafood dishes, complete with Ernesto's own unique sauces. In the area for a Minister's conference and went with Trip advisor's recommendation and great reviews of this place. Ernesto greeted us warmly, and told us about their 'specialties'. I had the BEST shrimp enchilada I have ever had. The chilled avocado soup and the chicken breast with an avocado butter sauce was excellent! I highly recommend this place for... More

You'll love Ernesto . The food, drink, ambiance. What a wonderful experience to dine at this establishment. Ernesto has been serving San Antonio for over 50 years. The food, sauces, and presentation are 1st class. Don't miss desert. If Ernesto is there let him take care-just say feed me. You won't be disappointed.

I've been eating at Earnesto's for decades. It's the high point of my trips to San Antonio. Gracious service and unbeatable recipes served in a quiet, intimate setting. While you can order off the menu, I prefer to let Earnest order my dinner. After asking a few questions to determine my preferences, I am rewarded with an unforgettable dining experience.... More

Don't miss this place!! A pearl. You've never eaten Mexican like it. Ernesto was such a gentleman and suggested dishes for us. Everything he brought to the table was incredible.

Ernesto welcomed us at the door, showed us to our table, and introduced us to the best Mexican seafood ever! It's the perfect spot in San Antonio for an intimate lunch or dinner -- delicious appetizers, entrees, drinks and desserts a a very fair price. We'll be back.

The atmosphere is very calm and inviting. It is so clean and charming. Ernesto came and introduced himself and made me and my son feel like family. Dim lighting and candles add to the ambiance. We had the pleasure of hearing live music as well. The food is seriously so good. So are the Margaritas. The portions are perfect. The... More

This was our first time eating at Ernesto's but it certainly will not be the last. We arrived around 9:00 p.m. and were greeted and seated in a timely manner. The restaurant is located in a strip mall but stood out when we pulled into the parking lot. You could see through the windows the brilliant white table clothes accented... More

Very glad I found this place via trip advisor. As soon as my colleague and I were seated, we were created by Ernesto himself who thanked us for coming. You can tell this place is family run, the food and service reflect it. The salsa is amazing, award winning and unique. The tortilla soup is spot on. I had the... More
