This is where the locals go. Just plain old American food with a German twist. Great breakfast. Blue plate specials at lunch.

We went because my wife has a German background. German food in the US sounds always good. She was disappointed. There is really nothing German about the menu. The potato salad is mushy and the frank was American. This is American food in a place that has German roots.

Came to town with my wife before a meeting. Took the advice of the hotel front desk staff to find a place for lunch. Walked a couple of blocks to Schilo's and wasn't disappointed. Food was fresh and very affordable. Had the turkey club sandwich with chips and an ice cold root beer!!! Perfect lunch on a perfect day.

Visited San Antonio for a conference with my wife and was looking for something other than usual blah Tex- Mex food. Based on recommendations, we decided to eat dinner at Schilo's deli. I had the hamburger (okay) and German sauerkraut (fabulous). Great root beer and spicy mustard!

We went to Schilo's after it had been recommended by a friend. We ended up there because the queue was too long in the restaurants along the Riverwalk. Dinner was great (try the Reuben!). In fact, it was so good we went back for breakfast the next day. You can't go wrong with this place.

Did not disappoint, in fact we ate there twice. Service is outstanding and the German food is excellent. We had Weiner schnitzel, German potato salad, potato pancakes, pork shank, and sauerkraut. Don't miss this place on Commerce, just above the River Walk.

My husband and I were staying on the RiverWalk at a hotel that didn't have breakfast included. We didn't want to spend $25 per person for breakfast so we found this great gem. My biscuits and gravy were $2.80. They weren't my favorite biscuits and gravy but they were good. My husband had a traditional breakfast with eggs, bacon and... More

Neat German Deli a bit off the River Walk, Great homemade Root beer and homemade spicy mustard. You can even purchase a jar of mustard to take with you.

Enjoyed lunch here last week, the root beer was great, the pea soup was outstanding. The Reuben didn't disappoint and the service friendly, enjoyed my experience and look forward to returning on my visits to San Antonio.

We were a party of 8 and enjoyed a good breakfast experience. Pretty standard breakfast stuff but well presented and nicely cooked. No delays and a reasonable price, sound good to me. Sorry to find it closed on Sundays when we went back!
