While visiting San Antonio, my sister and I were looking for something other than Tex- Mex food. Based on recommendations, we decided to eat lunch at Schilo's. When we received our Reuben sandwiches, a Schilo favorite, we were surprised to see a couple of thick slices of corned beef on our sandwiches, rather than deli sliced meat. We ate our... More

We have been to San Antonio endless times and have never eaten at Shilo's Deli. We decided to go for lunch (I heard their breakfast is fantastic too) because it was so close to our hotel Hilton's Placio del Rio. We were not disappointed. The atmosphere was fantastic, the staff was friendly and the menu was great. If you are... More

Great timeless deli, the homeade root beer is amazing as well as the split pea soup. Never dissappointed and always lives up to what I remember from the past.

Read reviews about this restaurant & decided we needed to check it out. It was interesting to read the history & to see the inside of the old building in person. The waitress that served us was so pleasant and personal. The root beer was a must! And the food was quite tasty! I would recommend it to anyone visiting... More

San Antonio's "Great" old fashion deli Great food and atmosphere. Best Rueben sandwich in town. Old school sour kraut. Miss Ruby's split-pea soup is the best on the planet. Try a brautwurst too. Deviled eggs are very nice... Not typical in most deli's in this era. Nice waitresses, good service... Worth the wait. Reasonable prices too.

Nothing special. Two burgers and pork shank. The shank flavor was ok, but it was only lukewarm. The hamburgers my family reports were nothing special..."plain" was their description. Service was ok. My son ordered a home made rootbeer which never came. Prices were very reasonable.

We were on our way to a concert with no set plans for dinner. We walked by Schilo's and read the menu outside. It was a Tuesday night so not crowded. Our waiter, Kevin, took excellent care of us. Food was delicious. We are for $25 tip included. Recommend to anyone looking for great deli food!

Ordered their potato pancakes, a great german starter, arrived very thin and bland. The applesauce was almost canned taste. The german potato salad was without any flavor at all. Nothing more than madhed potatos with celery. As being a couple who visits german restaurants in msny towns, this has to be on bottom of list. The Rueben sandwich was kraut... More

Traditional German deli, good menu variety, friendly service. Bro-in-law had the sausage sampler: "Their wurst is the best!" Salads are nothing particularly outstanding, though.
