I recently dined at Schilo's at the recommendation of a local and was very glad I did. I had the reuben sandwich, which was terrific. Many places slice their corned beef very thin, which is just fine and works well when piling high, but I loved how thickly sliced the corned beef was here. You could almost taste the grainy... More

Turn back time and eat at this fun delicatessen! I had the ruben sandwich with homemade chips. There soup of the day was delicious! Reminded me of my childhood because the decor is very retro. You can tell business people eat there for lunch...lot's of "suits."

Schilo's has been a favorite restaurant of mine since I first visited with my high school german class. Once I took my mother there for the first time it became our special place to eat. What I usually order is the Schnitzel with potatoes! Yum! My mouth is literally watering just thinking about it. That's not all though, they also... More

We were at a conference nearby and the hotel breakfast was $17. We weren't having that so asked locals for advice; everyone said this place. Some nice surprises on the menu. Went with a group of four. Potato pancakes and grits were "just okay." Eggs cooked to perfection and everyone was very nice. A fun, non-cookie cutter, reasonably priced alternative... More

Super location and really great food. The place was packed - always a good sign. The menu has a bit of a German twist. Ham shank and sauerkraut, Reuben on rye, cheesecake, split pea soup...delicious! This spot is a must to visit. Great staff too! Efficient and friendly. Loved it!

We had a very nice time. The service is usually good. I suggest the root beer in a frozen mug and the egg salad. Very good!

We had been out and about on the Riverwalk and decided a little late that we were hungry. We decided to try Schillo's because we knew they had German food on the menu and wanted to give it a try. We ordered a bowl of the split pea soup as an appetizer and shared. It was very good and was... More

We went here for lunch while visiting San Antonio. The restaurant has been in business for many years and in this location for a bunch as well. It is an old-style deli on the inside - old wooden booths, etc. Our lunch was good. The servings were large and the quality was top notch. I had to try the root... More

When I read the reviews I found myself craving the delis I was raised by...this place uses bread from the grocery store (or mass producing company of some sort)...it would be so much better if their bread came from a local bakery and was fresh, it would place the sandwiches over the top. The pea soup was good, I recommend... More
