Here for a convention in town my husband and I came for lunch. They have very reasonable prices for this area and even better food! We both had their famous root beer too (really sweet and cold and refreshing!)! There was a line out the door of people waiting, but we didn't wait longer than 8-10 minutes which was better... More

I had a corned beef sandwich and my husband had potato pancakes. Both were very good. Prompt service beats "fast food" any day.

I gave in and went here with my boyfriend on our recent trip. He loves German food, and I do not. This place was great though! They have homemade root beer... It was delicious! I generally don't like root beer and I still find myself craving theirs. I ordered the potato pancakes, but did not love it. However, don't let... More

This is the place to have home-made root beer, not like any you can get elsewhere. Good sandwiches, good service - we usually eat there when we are in San Antonio.

I ate here as a kid 25 years ago and fell in love with their rubens and root beer. I came back this week and it was just as delicious as I remembered. The authentic German fare is a perfect alternative to the myriad of Mexican and BBQ options on the Riverwalk, and the fact it has been in business... More

A colleague at work recommended we go to Shilo's when she heard we were going to San Antonio. So glad she did! We took friends and they loved it so much they went back again two nights later! We shared the homemade root beer - I'm still dreaming of it and tasting it, it was that good. The wienerschnitzel was... More

Steps from the Riverwalk on Commerce, this historic deli still serves great food at reasonable prices. The breakfast is wonderful as well as the lunches. A favorite with the locals. Rating reflects the whole deal for the price. Neat atmosphere. Forget expensive hotel and Riverwalk restaurants and eat here.

Get the root beer! Very quaint german pub like restaurant. Fresh meats, salads, split pea soup is a must have. Great service and low prices. Loved it!

This place was fantastic! An older restaurant with lots of charm, great food, and excellent service. I went traditional and had the Rueben with German potato salad. Hopefully someday I'll get the chance to go back!

We overslept, missing breakfast, so we came here for an early lunch, and weren't in the least disappointed. Schilo's appears that it's been here for over a hundred years (I don't know the actual age), so it truly has some character. My wife and granddaughter both ordered the chicken and dumplings, which arrived with side orders of carrots and peas.... More
