It's a deli. It's a good deli. It may not be a great deli. My suggestion is this is best for lunch and probably with a group or for a quick pitstop. It is not a 'foodie' standout but everyone can find at least something. And in a city where a burger can go for $14 - the $7 burger... More

A trip to San Antonio for us does not occur without a visit to Schilos. The food is so authentic and just beyond excellent. The service is always good.... WARNING! Go early or be prepared to stand in line! Other folks think it is good too!

This place can get busy during lunch rush. But we had a nice meal at affordable price. I enjoyed the sausage plate. Soups were good. They make their own German style mustard that was very strong like I like. Stay away from the homemade root beer. It just tasted like pure sugar.

I'm from Chicago, and a trip to the northwest side yields many authentic German and Jewish deli experiences far better than here. Went here for breakfast. So-so. Potato pancakes were wierd... A mix of pancake flour and grated potatoes. Coffee is good. Don't fall for the appearance of "local" bratwurst. We asked and it's Usingers. Which is ok, but it's... More

Great place for lunch. I always get a sandwich and their wonderful green pea soup. Great food, great prices. The place is a great historical building and is supposedly haunted.

We've eaten there for breakfast and dinner. Both the food at both meals was fresh, flavorful, and appropriate quantity. We went back so Mrs. Texan Abroad could have German Chocolate cake. The cake was served from the cooler-display case. It would have been better if it had been served at room temperature.

I was really in need of a good cooked breakfast and when it arrived I was disappointed. It was not very well presented, the egg was not cooked as I had requested and the bacon was very difficult to cut. I also had to ask for the toast they forgot to give me. I love this old place but the... More

Loud, crowded, and food lacked flavor. German potato salad was more like coleslaw. Server was kind of rude. We ate only because we were starving and wanted to leave asap. Cheesecake to go was just ok. Will not return.

The food was tasty but the portions were small. They had great soups and the sandwiches were good but, again, the portions were small. Schilo's atmosphere was energetic and the service staff was generally good, knowledgeable and responsive. We enjoyed the experience and even went a second time.
