Tripped upon this one. Got lucky

We were walking back to the car and came across this place. We weren't "hungry" but could eat a little. We stopped in and took a seat. Our waiter was very nice. He made several suggestions but we already knew what we wanted. Pastrami on rye with provolone and a cold beer. He suggested the homemade... read more

Just had lunch here. Food was fine. Salad was short on toppings. Deli sandwiches were standard. Service sucked. There have got to be better option around.

My husband and I went here for lunch following a recommendation from a family member. It was great! We both had a Ruben, cup of pea soup and the homemade root beer. All were excellent. Next time I would split the sandwich as we had way too much food.

I had the Schilo Burger , a pancake thick dry tasteless patty undressed on a stale bun. The meatlloaf had a metallic taste ,covered with ketchup with peas that came right out of a can . Aweful !

I'm sorry to hear about your experience. I will give your feedback to management so we can work to improve those items. The meatloaf is one of our classic specials. Many locals dine with us on a weekly basis just to order that, so I'm sorry you didn't feel the same way! We do hope you return and perhaps try... More

Have breakfast with my wife . . . Busy place with less than perfect staff . . . They were scattered around and appeared to be understaffed . . Ordered pancakes but got no syrup . . By the time I got some the meal was cold. Great history to the place with lots of pictures

This was our favorite breakfast place. Great quaint 1800`s atmosphere. Good food at a fair price. Friendly service. No surprises here. This team had been working together a long time and it shows in this historic San Antonio restaurant.

...and Apple Streussel (is that how you spell it). We walked here from our hotel for breakfast during a recent visit of the Riverswalk area when our daughter was in town in late March 2015. We were very pleased with everything we ordered. I love the mom and pop type restaurants over the national chains, especially when they have so... More

Get out of the hotel and only a little bit away from the Riverwalk. We had a wonderful breakfast, great coffee, with interesting old time decor. We would love to try the lunch her, the menu had appealing choices. Don't miss the trophy room.

Had lunch there and there was a line. We didn't have to wait long to get seated, but it took a while for our food. If you don't like crowds and noise, avoid this place.
