Fantastic Breakfast

This deli has been in San Antonio since the 1800s and is still family run today. We went for breakfast and it was fabulous. I had pancakes and bacon - big fluffy buttermilk pancakes freshly made and my husband had huevos rancheros which he said were delicious. Not on the riverwalk but easy to find... read more

Great old diner. Fast. Cheap. With a German flair. Right off the River Walk. Within walking distance of The Alamo. Great place for breakfast. But the lunch looks awesome.

With all of the German heritage in San Antonio the number of German restaurants is sadly lacking, especially downtown. Schilo's has been here for 100 years. It has a great history but I see it as a deli and not a true German restaurant. I ordered a schnitzel, the dish I judge all German restaurants by. It looked great when... More

I travel for business and always go to Schilos for breakfast. They also have home made root beer and hot mustard. It's a wonderful place with no frills.

Great breakfast place and most of the servers are great. the tone is a mid level for intense service. some forget we are m=not in New York....and I love new york, so not a slam, it just doesn't fit here. We still go a bit and always enjoy it. We recommend it as a place to try if visiting SA.

We had the apple streusel and cinnamon roll for breakfast. Both were quite tasty. Cinnamon roll was exceptional. Good service. Hard to find reasonable parking. Parked several blocks away on Broadway on the street, metered parking. Prices overall very reasonable.

This restaurant was established in 1917 and is located in downtown San Antonio. They serve authentic German food, but also have soup, salads and deli sandwiches. You can't leave without having their home-made root beer or split pea soup. It is awesome! The menu describes the history of the family who established this wonderful place, which is still German family-owned.... More

If you are ever in the mood for a great sandwich and the absolute best split pea soup in Texas, you must go to Schilo's. Their home-made lunches are to die for! It's like going home to mom's for lunch! Huge Happy Face!

The Schilo Delicatessen is a nice little German Deli that is walking distance from our hotel. The interior was vintage with wood paneling, wood tables and straight-back chairs. We were greeted by a cheerful waitress, our order was taken promptly and delivered hot. The eggs were perfectly done, the German potato pancakes (served with applesauce and our cream) were good!...
