We had dinner here early on a Sunday evening just before the crowd, which is our preference. We both had the CARNE ASADA A LA TAMPIQUEÑA, which is a tasty grilled beef tenderloin grilled to your desire, with a cheese enchilada verde, charro beans, guacamole and pico de gallo. I had one of the salads and my wife had a... More

I wish we could have dined on the adorable patio, but alas it was raining. The staff did a good job on a slammed night, many reservations disrupted due to rain. Had a delicious jalepeno margarita while we waited for a table. Interior was fancy but not pretentious, same with the crowd. Food was above average tex-mex.

Good food that is tastier than most! Take the time to drive here. We are in San Antonio for our sons Air Force graduation and this was a perfect place to stop for dinner!

It was a lovely day to sit in the courtyard under the oaks at LA FONDA ON MAIN. As we entered there was an invitation to try the bar immediately on the left, serving varieties of cold , wine and drinks. Passing by the dinner tables, we were delighted to be seated in the large patio, shaded by huge trees... More

The food and ambience at La Fonda on Main is especially delicious. Our favorite is the lovely outdoor patio, surrounded by trees and plants. and makes the diner feel relaxed and comfortable. With that, the food is a different Mexican style and make for a time for good conversation and digestion!

La Fonda never dissappoints. The food and drinks are delicious. Love the inside atmosphere and outside patio. Friendly servers. The price is a little high for mexican food but still worth a try.

My sister-in-law had not been here in 50 years. So many family memories for us (used to be traditional place to go when visiting Grandparents) and the food remains delicious. Some creative choices---- not just cheese enchiladas (but they are good too). Enjoyed sitting outside on the lovely patio. Unseasonably warm February day--a real treat for family from Alaska.

Very typical local Tex-Mex with upscale prices. So loud on our last visit, could not think. Lots of better options in SAT without the 'tourist' tint.

La Fonda on Main is in a fashionable, hip, neighborhood that has kept its original exterior ,the food is ok but not really authentic Mexican but the atmosphere and location plus good margaritas make it a nice place for locals and tourist to hang out on a Friday or Saturday night...
