This is one of my favorite spots to enjoy authentic Mexican food in enchanting San Antonio. The locals head here and that is enough for me. The food is delicious and the margaritas are wonderful. It is a short taxi ride from the Riverwalk district but well worth it. And you get a real taste of what Mexican food should... More

Great experience. Service was on point. Much more enjoyable atmosphere than comparable restaurants. Food and drink was excellent. Will be back on our next trip into town.

We recently held an event at La Fonda on Main. At first I was excited because I had seen pictures of their private party room and it's beautiful! However the customer service I given by their event planner and by their owner is horrible. We should have seen the red flags from the beginning with their event planner; not sending... More

We stayed close by and went to lunch two days in a row because we liked it so much. Their red enchiladas are the best I've had. The sweet potato enchiladas are very good and unique. On Sunday they offer a basket of muffins instead of the usual chips and salsa. The salsa was excellent but the chips too thick... More

Must add this to your list when visiting San Antonio. The atmosphere is friendly, inviting and cozy. The food is authentic Mexican cuisine with lovely presentation and fresh taste. We had the fillet mignon steak salad and the La Fonda Special. The detail of the meal was refreshing. The guacamole was perfect. Steak was cooked perfect and the Mexican food... More

My husband and I chose La Fonda for our one dinner in San Antonio based on the stellar Trip Advisor reviews. It was very good but I don't think it is the best (tex mex) restaurant in San Antonio as so many have claimed. The back porch open air seating is very nice though buggy. The chips are delicious but... More

Historic restaurant, in a nice neighborhood, excellent service, good food (especially the chips and salsa, which are some of the best I ever tried).

How refreshing to be treated to superb service, and exciting dishes proving to be very different than any traditional Easter brunch. Did I mention the service was impeccable? For such a busy day, staff was extremely organized with everyone being extremely cordial. Of course you have your typical Hill Country attire of gents in cowboy boots an cowboy hats, along with... My Family loves this restaurant more than any other place in San Antonio. Margaritas on the back court yard make us all very happy. They have great salsa and chips, the staff have all been here for years. The food is wonderful. Try the fajita salads, try the enchiladas verdes, try Old #7. They are all fantastic!

Good food. Great prices. But you absolutely have to sit on the patio! Wonderful atmosphere!!! I really enjoyed getting out of the River Walk area and seeing the real San Antonio. It was definitely worth it.
