La Fonda on Main not only has great food, the ambience on the patio is beautiful and serene. The food is not Tex Mex like most Mexican restaurants in San Antonio. You won,t find greasy enchillidas and refried beans. The food is more upscale, and the specials change daily. Google the menu and see for yourself. All is very good,... More

Recently visited with a party of nine. Service well paced. The atmosphere energetic. All enjoyed their food. The queso fondia (sp?) was a delicious appetizer treat. Very much enjoyed the shrimp pacifico special. If you're ready to enjoy a good meal away from the Riverwalk, you can't go wrong here.

My partner and I were visiting San Antonio for a long weekend of museums and sightseeing. We selected La Fonda on Main based on prior reviews and were not disappointed. We went for late lunch and no trouble getting a table, service was excellent, food was amazing, and the prices very reasonable. Their Mexican style cooking is a definite cut... More

For a couples day after some minor shopping and movie, we decided to go out to eat. Where to go? We decided to stop by an old stand by, La Fonda on Main. It was a late afternoon before the dinner crowd, so were not even sure if they were open. But instead we were promptly greeted and seated with... More

With so much great Mexicam food available here, this us not the place to drop your dollars. Food was very heavy, nothing special. Very good and prompt service, however.

Oh my God! I will never go back!! We are new to San Antonio, took a week off work and decided to have a stay-cation and try out all the spots in town. We will not go back to La Fonda. Everyone raves about what a great place this is, I guess folks in San Antonio must be accustomed to... More

Only ate here once, but the food was delicious and the service was great. They have traditional Mexican food items on the menu, and also some unique items that you normally wouldn't see in a traditional Mexican restaurant. We sat in the courtyard and loved the atmosphere!

We celebrated NYE by having dinner with some friends at La Fonda and loved it. They seated the 7 of us ( including 2 kids) in the back room by the fire and the server came within seconds. The staff was very courteous and even talked to the kids. The food and drinks were perfect especially the cabrito enchiladas and... More

We ate at La Fonda 3 times in 36 hours. Yes, it was close to our B and B, but it is also that good. First meal was enchiladas and mole...really good, the mole was rich and smooth, the tortillas tasty. Enchiladas with spinach was next and they got rave reviews from the diner, he had them twice. The paella... More
