Great salsa, great service

Went there solo for dinner on the weekend & sat outside on the gorgeous patio. Server was super fast getting me a menu & drink. The Michelada had a bit more lime than I prefer but was still good. The pazole verde soup was AMAZING and loved the homemade chips & salsa. Perfect amount of spice in the... read more

Friends recommended La Fonda to me and it did not disappoint. Pozole was great and the carne asada was the best Ive ever had - not sure why they gave me a knife because it is so tender. Hopefully we will get back for lunch before this conference is over.

I have been to this restaurant a few times in this last year. The last two times we were very disappointed with the quality of food. The steak that we ordered was both times full of gristle and unpalatable. The vegetarian enchiladas were basically empty and one had to search in vain for the on the menu promised cheese. We... A trip to San Antonio without visiting Ls Fonda would be one of life's disappointments. I have been coming here every year for over 10 years and have always had excellent, caring service and wonderful meals. Picking my favorite would be impossible. And when the January weather permits, a meal in the outside patio is great. Looking forward to 10... More

You might be surprised at the sophisticated Mexican cuisine. There are many "regular " dishes from which to choose, but also some unexpected twists and specials. If the weather is nice, sit outside. You will think you are in another city, or country. Service is great, really old school great. Food is good, atmosphere is wonderful. Of course, I live... More

We were in San Antonio for a wedding and came here Friday night. Food and service were excellent! I had the La Fonda Special and a few margaritas (very delicous). Our waitress Monika had tons of recommendations and even offered us an appetizer or dessert on the house since it was our first time there. I would definitely recommend sitting... More

Got to sit outside on Valentine's which was a plus. Dinner might be a little overpriced, but the food is good. Service was good as well. If we were in town we'd eat there again.

Had dinner there w/ 2 friends and enjoyed it so very much. Service was excellent (thanks Amber). It was nice that a manager came by to ask if we were pleased w/ our selections. House margaritas, coconut margaritas & Mexican margaritas were really good. Had the corn fritter type appetizer and it had a lovely presentation and tasted wonderful. The... More

Beautiful atmosphere; great service, and great food! You can stay at this place for hours. The atmosphere is comfortable, beautiful and relaxing. The food is very good, but I think that the atmosphere helps the food taste better. We had a great time and my wife was very happy; happy wife, happy life ;)

The food is fresh, creative, and delicious. The service is attentive and personable; our waiter, Justice, was especially enjoyable and made great recommendations for drinks and a wonderful, one-of-a-kind dessert. Even though it was late December and most San Antonians shiver at the thought of being outside when it's below 55 degrees, we absolutely loved sitting outside with the heated... More
