Great everything

Great location, close but away from the main tourists area. Nice atmosphere, Caleb our waiter knew the menu like the back of his hand, very attentive but not overwhelming. Food & marguerite was off the charts. A must if you are in the area

Enjoyed a beautiful warm February day on patio out back - chips and salsa were good - green enchiladas just ok and the cheese enchilada dish with tostada not that great. Was not impressed after hearing about this place from in state and out of state (Seattle) family members. The building and patio are very nice, landscaping lush and tropical... More

The spinach and mushroom enchiladas a real treat! I ordered the sangria and others ordered the margarita, I had drink envy - - the sangria was good but the margaritas were well rimmed with salt, lime and numerous flavors. The black rice(I am sure there is a more formal name) was tasty and I am not a rice eater, so... More

This is where the locals go for great Mexican food. 7 minute cab from the Riverwalk, and well worth the ride. Everything is good. Trust the waiter for suggestions. Courteous, professional service. Nice change from the chain stuff on the Riverwalk.

What a wonderful place to enjoy a very good meal in a relaxed yet classy surrounding! Meal was tasty with a nice presentation. Service excellent-attentive without being pesty. And very well valued in the pricing. Wish we could move the restaurant to Minnesota so we could enjoy it more often!

I went to La Fonda based on tripadvisor reviews and was not disappointed. The food turned out to be as good as expected and the menu allowed multiple options for vegetarians. It's nice to go for Mexican and be able to choose more than "cheese enchilada" if you're not eating meat. The staff was polite and the atmosphere was wonderful... More

Brunch at La Fonda is the only meal we have enjoyed & it is fabulous. We had a salad & diabiltos for an appetizer. The jalepeno infused vodka in the bloody Marie's was good. Sunday breakfast, spinach enchiladas & decunya oaxocaneo were all great.y husband was blessed with bird droppings on his hand as we dined outside so beware of... More

We were there on a quiet, rainy afternoon. People at just a few tables, very relaxed. Excellent service. We were both very happy with our food - fresh ingredients, and just a little different twist on things. Not cookie cutter Mexican, for sure! Would return, given the chance.

It was our first visit and all 4 of us loved our food, flavorful and fresh, I ordered the stuffed pepper, the stuffing was vegetables and cheese. excellent. The fresh amber jack fish was served with a pineapple salsa...good. We will put this restaurant on the must visit list when we return to San Antonio.

La Fonda has been around for a long time and continues to deliver outstanding Mexican food...far above and beyond the standard San Antonio offerings. In addition to everyday menu choices La Fonda offers really interesting specials that clearly reflect originality and are competently executed. The beverage offerings are extensive and well-prepared from scratch. Sunday brunch is not to be missed... More
