Description: Whether dining in the cozy interior or on the outdoor villa-style terrace overlooking the San Antonio River, exquisite food and impeccable service are mainstays of the Fig Tree Restaurant. Crisp linens drape tables set with fine china and sparkling crystal in elegant yet homey surroundings.Delicate, highly composed dishes such as Tournedos Rossini with Perigourdine Sauce, Seared Nori Tempura Yellow Fin Tuna and Cold Water Australian Lobster with Drawn Butter are menu stand-outs. Tableside flamed desserts include Bananas Foster over Vanilla Ice Cream and traditional Baked Alaska.Historically referred to as the Gray-Guilbeau House, the building is named for James Gray and French consul Francois Guilbeau who bought the house from Gray in 1853. The house saw many owners, including the Henshaw family, and was the last of the private dwellings in La Villita. The Phelps family purchased the home in December of 1970 as their personal residence. Visitors to the home were enthralled with its historical significance and ambiance. Prompted by this the family voted to share the house with all, and the Fig Tree Restaurant was born.Mr. and Mrs. Frank Phelps opened the Fig Tree Restaurant on March 17, 1971, and the family has continuously operated the restaurant ever since. We sincerely hope you enjoy this old home and its surroundings as much as those who have lived and dined here in the past.Around the corner from the Hilton Hotel, next to Little Rhein Steak House

We searched for romantic dining on the Riverwalk and decided after reading reviews to make a reservation for our anniversary date. We were seated outside on the balcony overlooking the Riverwalk and it was breathtaking. Our waiter Adam was wonderful. From helping us decide on our entrees to refilling our wine glasses, we felt like top priority. The Beef Wellington... More

We ate outside over looking the river walk and across from a live performance. Our starters were the soup of the day and escargot basque style. The escargot had a tomato confit, chorizo in a sauce with grilled bread. Having eaten escargot in Paris, this was better. The entres of Beef Wellington and Maple Leaf Duck were wonderful. We had... We dined at Fig Tree on the spur of the moment, and had a nice, if expensive, meal. Even though we arrived just as they opened and most of the tables were vacant, the hostess acted as if we were an imposition. The duck was quite tasty and the lamb was satisfying. Probably the whole experience would have been much... More

They cater to the couple as much add to a party of 12. Attention to detail from beginning to end. The food was impeccable and the staff were attentive. Wine and water glasses were always full. The bananas foster is to die for ;) enjoy your experience.

A small and quaint restaurant in the Villita area, which is quite charming. Started with platters of petite appetizers -- quail legs wrapped in bacon (yum), escargot in a puff pasty (yum), salmon tartar, and mushrooms stuffed with a wonderful cheese (yum). The scallops for my entree were perfectly cooked and the light sauce was perfect. The desserts were the... More

My cousin and I dined @ the Fig Tree Restaurant in San Antonio TX for dinner. Though we did not have a reservation, we were seated immediately. My cousin ordered the squash soup and we split a beet salad with goat cheese and a light vinaigrette dressing. I ordered the trout. The soup was rich and savory. The salad was... More

The Fig Tree surprised me first with its offering of Beef Wellington, which they do very well. However, the escargot basque is truly fantastic, one of the best appetizers I have had in years. Service was quite good, but the location, particularly outdoors was simply spectacular. There is a charming terraced set of tables going down to the Riverwalk, complete... More

We had a business dinner out on the patio and the staff accommodated our party of 14 by turning the long table so we could all fit. Lovely weather. Excellent service and delicious French cuisine. I would happily eat here again.

If you are looking for fine dining to get away from Mexican--- this is a must. Right next to the Hilton at a very scenic Riverwalk location. The Beef Wellington was amazing! Must call for reservation. Highly recommend!

In town for dental convention. Went on a recommendation of a friend. Wonderful experience the moment we walked in the door. Friendly and attentative service. The food was amazingly delicious ! It was a little pricy, but it was by far the BEST meal we had in Texas ! Will definately be back.
