It's all about fun atmosphere with good friends and food - long lines

Ok, no one is going to tell you this is the best burger ever. It is good, for sure, as is all the rest on the menu. The main thing about Chris Madrid's is laid back, sitting on big picnic tables (inside and out), lively dive atmosphere and enjoying a good meal with friends and family. The prices... read more

This is my absolute favorite burger in Texas -- both the Cheddar Cheezy and the Tostada Burger (with refried beans and fritos) are classics -- add jalapenos for good measure. (The macho nachos are the bomb, too.) Every time I go to SA, I have to eat at this SA institution. An authentic classic untainted by success). I break burgers... More

A little off the beaten path but great burgers. The building looks like a dive but it's nice inside with a large patio out back. The regular size burgers are big enough to share. Come hungry if you go with the "macho" burger. The fries were good too but the family size order was too big for us. Everyone was... More

Go for the tostada bean burger and the mango margaritas. Whoever thought of putting corn chips and delicious refried beans on an already excellent cheeseburger is a genius. We didn't want the burger to end! Dress it up with salsa and pico de gallo if you like or enjoy it in its natural state.

This was amazing! The restaurant was recommended to me by a friend and I paid a visit out of sheer curiosity and took some friends with me. They all agreed that it was worth the trip! Yes, you can't eat there too often because of the clogged arteries that may result, however, for a good cheat meal or a special... More

If you are in for a big fat juicy burger, and then a 1 week triglycerides detox, then it is the place. The taste of the burger is great, the price..well, I've had better (La Tuna in SA, Diner 24 in Austin,TX) I don't think I am going back...maybe just for a special occasion.

I had the Macho Flaming Jalapeño Burger w/cheese, it was huge and tasted excellent. Place doesn't look like much from the outside but give it a shot. Nice atmosphere, everyone very friendly and most importantly the food is great.

Bring a big appetite because you will need it. The burgers are great and they are big. It is very casual with picnic table seating. You order at the counter. Fun and great place to go for lunch or dinner.

My husband and I always have to share the macho porky's burger or else I wouldn't be able to eat it by myself. It is good. I also get the macho nacho's - nacho with beans and picadillo meat plus you can top it with jalapeños if you like. The food has always been consistent everytime we go.

I saw this place listed in Maximum Magazine as one of the best places to have a burger. The cheese was impressive and think that it is the selling point along with the mere size for the cost. The meat was tasteless and could had been seasoned a bit. The fries were large in portion but a lot of grease... More
