We came back to this restaurant again the second time we came to San Antonio. When we were in California, we really missed the special dishes, appetizers and awesome drinks! Okay, so let's be honest, most of the food on the Riverwalk is not the greatest. You get better quality food if you venture off to the market or other areas of San Antonio. Of course, who doesn't want to hang out on the Riverwalk? That's one of the best places in my opinion. My family and I were wanting... More

So, you are on the river walk and you are tired of chips and salsa with a Margarita based on a bottled mix from somewhere in California. And, you ask yourself the essential River Walk question: Where do the adults go to eat and drink here? Look up and at street level you will find the Esquire Tavern - good... More

What an amazing recap of your experience here at the Tavern! Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a few words about how we're doing, and especially for pointing out a feature we consider a treasure: our Art-O-Mat! Feel free to make the trip down I35 and be our guest anytime; we'd love to have you!... More

If you had to choose on meal on the Riverwalk, in particular, one you wouldn't need to spend $200 on, Esquire is it. Avoid the kitch, and the tourist traps, and check out this spot. We had great burgers, and an appetizer, along with some excellent signature cocktails. It was dark, and the 100 foot wood bar, and quirky decor... More

Thank you so much for taking a moment to let us know how we're doing! We pride ourselves on providing a menu that is, as you say, 'fresh and well seasoned,' and being reminded that guests like yourself appreciate such qualities in a menu just puts a pep in our step. I sincerely hope that, should you make your way... More

My children had eaten here a couple of years ago when they were here with our church and they had been talking about going back ever since. We went there for lunch after the Alamo. It was very dark in there and we had light coming in from the windows, I can't imagine it at night. And their bathroom is... More

We're so glad you enjoyed your meals, and that you were able to fit us into what must have been a very busy morning! I do hope you'll be able to make it back for a Happy Hour cocktail on the patio, once it cools down a bit... Perhaps after a visit to the Briscoe Western Art Museum, right around... More

The Esquire Bar has an interesting history in that it reopened the day after Prohibition was repealed. Everything was in place and they were ready! Today you will enjoy the dark, cool respite from the Texas heat as you sip on a cold 16 oz. can Lone Star. The 100+ foot wooden bar is a marvel to see. Enter from... More

We're so glad you made your way to our humble little Tavern, all the way from Florida! Food was fresh and local. My first lettuce wrap; a very pleasant surprise for a bread lover like me. All the desserts were light and not not too sweet (yes we had them all). Signature cocktails were tasteful and pack a punch. Wait staff was very friendly especially that half Mexican cutie from Monroe, LA.

We're so glad you liked those lettuce wraps, Tom; that Hudspeth River Ranch lamb sure is a winner! And your group tried out all of the desserts? Sounds like I need to hang out with y'all the next time you visit! All jokes aside, thank you kindly for taking the time to leave us a review and let us know... More

This place has really cool ambiance. The bar, ceiling, and location on the river walk are awesome. Good selection of beer and other drinks; however, I can't recommend the food. My Cubano sandwich was small, soggy, and basically impossible to really tell what was in it. I couldn't eat the chili slaw; maybe some like it, but inedible to me.... More

We're so glad you enjoyed our cocktail and beer offerings, and while we know some of our menu items aren't for everyone, 'soggy food' is a category that no one should have to subject their palate to. Please accept my apology that your meal was less than stellar, and be assured that I have passed this on to my kitchen... More

I visited on a busy saturday evening. Had a bison burger with salad and chili-salt fries - very good. Good beer selection as well. Friendly service.
