Stopped in for a late night Tuesday night cap with colleagues. Nice to see a trio playing some country music and some other favourites. They were a ton of fun. Our server was friendly and a great sense of humour! Great selection of tequila and beer. Didn't eat anything so don't know about the food - but liked the place... More

We stopped in here for a midday drink while walking on the Riverwalk. The atmosphere is great. The service is good. We sat outside and people watched. This is definitely a place you should pop in for a drink or a meal while visiting San Antonio. It is the oldest bar on the Riverwalk.

Yummy food and hand crafted cocktails. Nothing premixed or packages here. They make everything from scratch including simple syrups in the drinks. The margarita is potent and delicious. The food is amazing. Shrimp toast is one of a kind. Oldest bar in San Antonio and definitely a must stop whether you are a resident or you travel to San Antonio.

The oldest bar on the San Antonio Riverwalk the Esquire Tavern is worth a visit. We sat outside and had a birds eye view of the tour boars passing and people walking by. Drinks were good and the appetizers were tasty. A perfect spot to sit and relax and enjoy the Riverwalk. Would love to come back for a full... More

It is labeled as the very first restaurant/bar on the riverwalk, and it does not dissapoint. It certainly has that vibe that you know history has happened there. The place has a very NY style on the inside, the food is awesome, specially the burgers, the fries are magnificent and the selection of draft beer fair. I would recommend going... More

We always visit this place when we're in San Antonio because of the ginger beer. They make it onsite and it is the best my wife has ever had. Non-alcoholic so the kids can try it too. Interesting place. From the river walk side, it's a non-descript stairway going up to the bar. Haven't eaten there so can't comment on... More

My husband and I just ate lunch at the Esquire. The food was amazing. Very good Bloody Mary. We both had the special which was a hamburger and fries- delicious. The server did spill and entire Bloody Mary on my husbands shoes and nice wool coat. I was very disappointed that they did not offer to pay for the cleaning... More

This place has been on our bucket list for several years now. Finally took the plunge New year's Eve and we both came back happy we did. Excellent choice of beers for this dark romantic place. The boast of being a mixology type bar but the simple margarita we requested on the rocks needed lots of help of mixing syrup... More

The Texas craft beer selection here is very good, which includes Live Oak from Austin. It's worth stepping in for a drink, but stick to getting drinks from the bar. They claim to be the longest bar in Texas; definitely the longest wait in Texas. They didn't seem to have their act together on managing the restaurant side of the... More
