While the menu is the usual Indian fare, the quality of the food itself, the subtlety of the flavorings, and the service are among the best I've ever had. Best Naan I've ever had - try the onion Naan. Curried muscles had nice balanced seasonings - very savory broth. Martini and cocktail were exceptionally good - didn't have high expectations... More

After a visit to Peabody Essex Museum with a group of 24 women we all went to Passage to India to have lunch . That is a LARGE group to deal with .Our waiter was wonderful and gave us each separate checks and managed to keep all of our orders straight . He was funny and even spoke to us... More

Been going here for about a decade. The people who say the staff are rude are having a cultural miscommunication. Not only is the food fantastic, but the guys there have mostly all worked there for years and are very friendly. Better than every other Indian place I've been to. Great for vegetarians.

We shared the lamb vindaloo (very hot!) & poori. When food is very spicy, it should still impart layers of flavors--and this did not disappoint. We ate it all, & fully enjoyed the experience. Servers were attentive--& kept our water glasses full, as we guzzled lots of ice water to balance the spicy heat! This is one of our favorites... More

I literally would travel to Salem JUST for this restaurant! The atmosphere was beautiful and aromatic, the music was popular Bollywood tunes that I loved singing along with, the wait staff absolutely friendly and attentive and the food...oh my gosh the FOOD!! It's traditional Indian so if you don't like spicy then you might want to skip it but if... More

Earlier this evening we enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Passage to India. The food was flavorful and cooked exactly as we had requested it, the severs were thoughtful and attentive, and our meal arrived quickly. There was nothing to dislike, and we would highly recommend this restaurant. Next time we're in Salem, we'll certainly be making it a point to... More

I've lived in Salem for ten years and loved Passage to India. It was my first experience with Indian food, and I appreciated being able to order online and pop in to order my food. The food is delicious, prices are comparable to what else I've found for decent Indian, and the service is, for the most part, friendly enough.... More

The prices are very reasonable. Good serving size. Husband and i ordered one entree each and had leftovers to take home. Service is not personable but fast. They start customers with complimentary papadum with two dips: tamarind sauce and a super spicy sauce. I thought this was a nice touch because i've never been to an Indian restaurant that serves... I have been here a few times and always tolerated the rude staff, from manager, waitstaff to bus persons because the food was good. The last two times however I noted my meal was somewhat watered down and tasteless. This last visit was my absolute last. When we arrived we were greated by what I can only describe as a... More

We eat at Passage to India roughly 10-12 times per year. The food is consistently excellent, and is pretty inexpensive too. Service is friendly and prompt.
