After being a solid choice for good food, drinks, service and company for many years The Old Spot has closed down for good. I noticed they changed their menu and staff in the past year and I have to say their decisions killed their business. It's a pity. I will miss the old Old Spot.

Superb service, delicious food and drinks, and located directly across from the Hawthorne Hotel made this our favorite Salem eatery. Try the pretzels and pub cheese.

Server Chris P. was great! He could even tell which city we were from! The place was very busy with locals and rightfully so, the food was excellent! I had some delicious onion soup with five cheeses ($6.50) and my husband had the pork sammie ($10). I took several bites. Awesome. People around us were enjoying wings, beer, etc. This... More

This place never disappoints! Staff is always friendly and never neglectful. I always get the warm mushroom salad with steak tips! It is incredible and one of the best things I've ever eaten ( and coming from a New Yorker who's had some of the best food in the world). The salad itself is amazing and add the steak tips... More

Stopped here for dinner. Hearty servings of food. Good atmosphere for couples or families. HBLT was a delicious sandwich.

We just happened upon this small pub in Salem, MA when we were there this past weekend, and are we ever glad we stopped in! Seemed a bit sketchy from the outside, but the food and the beer was excellent... Very reasonably priced, and Rich at the bar was very personable. We really, really enjoyed our meal here - perfect... My friend and I decided to stop in at the Old Spot as neither of us had been in quite awhile. It was a busy Friday night but no wait time and we had a table in the (very dark) corner. They have a great menu when it comes to cocktails and beers on tap. I started with a Nancy... More

Sadly, The Old Spot has become just that--the old spot my friends and I used to go. I'm not sure if the place has new management, a new owner, or a new chef, but in the past six months or so there's been a definite change in the menu, food, and service. The atmosphere is still great, but the last... More

Went for lunch and was underwhelmed to say that least about the food.Chicken tenders and fries were fair at best and for a whopping $12.00? Don't mind paying that for good quality and good service at a higher end restaurant but couldn't make sense of that price here. Caesar salad tasted odd- not a caesar dressing and the portobello mushroom... More

The Old Spot has a great beer selection and the menu has delightful snacks and dinners. My personal favorite is the mushroom salad with steak tips. A cozy spot to hang out for a few stinks or dinner.
