We are a local dive bar that secretly has class. Great food, great service all served in a very casual atmosphere with absolutely no pretense. We're a little place with a big heart. The Shanty has been serving the Good People of Salem for 30 years and is a local institution. We welcome anyone who wants to come and relax with us. This is one place where you can let your freak flag fly. Our patio allows well-behaved dogs, we even have a doggie menu. Don't worry about bringing water bowls, we've got some.

Enjoyed a delicious Lobster Salad and cup of Boston Clam Chowder with an ice cold beer here! Perfect little place to stop off for lunch off of the Trolley Tour!

I was very excited to eat at Lobster Shanty. I am hoping that we just got an off day. While the Lobster mac and cheese was delicious, the rest of our food was mid-range (including the clam chowder). The server was a bit inattentive and service was a bit slow. I probably will give them another chance if I am... More

The hours on Trip Advisor are wrong! The Lobster Shanty is open for lunch! We had a fabulous lunch! My husband and I both ordered Lobster Rolls. We had one traditional and one Connecticut style roll. Both were excellent! Our waiter was charming and helpful. We ate outside and enjoyed amazing food on a beautiful day!

We also went to Lobster Shanty on recommendation from Triple D. It was small with not a lot of seating inside but they have a bunch of small outside tables. We chose to sit inside because nothing outside accommodated our group of six and there was a band playing that although it was a great band, was loud and conversation... More

My friend and I were on a ghost tour & heard some live music and noticed a pretty big gathering of people. After the tour, we decided to explore & made a stop here. The entertainment was great, the location was quaint, & they had the BEST baked skillet mac & cheese I've ever had! My only regret was not... More

Last day in area so spent a few hours in Salem. Promised we'd also get a lobster roll and have to say this was perfect spot. Very quick and for $20 loaded with lobster! Teens enjoyed the grilled cheese, chicken sandwich, and waffle fries....

Noticed this spot while driving away from the harbor area, so found a parking spot and went in. Tooooooooooooooooooo fun. Our server was super friendly, the drinks were cold, and the food was great. Wish we could have stayed longer, but our agenda dictated we move on. Definitely worth a stop when in Salem!

On a visit to Salem, Massachusetts our family ate at The Lobster Shanty. The service was extremely good and our server was cheerful and friendly. We all tried different dishes as a way to sample their seafood. Coming from the coastal island in Georgia we know good seafood. The food (fish, scallops and clam chowder) was very good. It was...
