Description: Located in the Old London Coffee House, which dates back to the 1700s, Red’s Sandwich Shop has been visited by many Celebrities, Congressman, Senators and even First Lady Barbara Bush. A relaxed, friendlly atmosphere in a historic building is the perfect place to join Salem locals for the BEST breafkast and lunch menu in town. The food is delicious, all home-style cooking at pricing so reasonable you almost feel guilty. Having visited numerous restaurants in Salem that charge outrageous pricing for mediocre food, Red's Sandwich Shop is the crown jewel of the city in terms of excellent food, great prices, and a lovely environment with a friendly staff. They offer an extensive breakfast and lunch menu, Dinner Specials, and a daily $6.95 Special.. And when they say roasted turkey, they mean roasted turkey -- whole turkeys are roasted on the premises and carved for your order. In a tribute to Thanksgiving, their Home Style Turkey Sandwich (roasted turkey, dressing, cranberry sauce and gravy) is out of this world! Wonderful specialty items from Chicken Marsala and Chicken Piccata to Chicken Pot Pie are made to order. Soups and chowders made fresh daily. For a variety of sandwiches from open-faced, to club, to roll-ups -- they cannot be beat. Red's is an award-winning restaurant that received the "BEST BREAKFAST ON THE NORTH SHORE" award for 24 years in a row! I cannot rave enough about this restaurant. If you have only one restaruant to visit in Salem, make it Red's.

Something on the menu for nearly everyone. Our Sunday brunch wait was only 10 minutes and worth every single one. Fantastic service and delicious food at a reasonable price. There's a reason Red's has been around so long.

After our ferry from Boston to Salem, we were hungry, so on the suggestion of the staff at Salem's visitor's center, we walked over to Red's Sandwich Shop. The building was the old London Coffee House back in the 1600s, which was very cool to think about. Inside was nothing fancy, more like an old luncheonette, but the food and... More

This is a great little lunch spot to sit down and have a quick bite to eat. The staff is EXTREMELY friendly, warm, and welcoming. Heaping portions, and classic casual atmosphere= a great lunch.

Restaurant is normally fairly busy but that's because the food is so good. It looks small on the outside but there is plenty of seating inside. If the menu says it comes with chips that does not mean french fries, you get a small bag of store bought potato chips.

We were excited to eat here due to its reputation and reviews, but it did not meet our heightened expectations. It's a local diner. My bacon and cheese omelet was at the table so quickly that the cheese was not melted. The bacon in the omelet was in full strips so I had to cut it all up. Usually omelet... More

Crowded but still had seats, Rachael was our waitress and she took our order right away. I had eggs and bacon (my eggs were perfect), my husband had eggs and corn beef hash, my daughter had cinnamon French toast (both said their food was great too). The service was fast, lots of food and good prices. We will definitely be... More

Good food. Decent prices. Fastest meal I think we ever had served to us my husband and I joked. Part of our family enjoyed breakfast food even though it was lunch time.

Red's has the largest size pancake that I have eaten. The size is at least the size of 4 regular pancakes being almost as wide as a seat of a stool. You can get 3 of the pancakes for around $6.00. The service is great there as well. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

We had to wait a while to get in, but definitely worth the 15 minute wait in line. We left after a delicious home cooked style meal. The place was jumpin and the food was most excellent.
