A great place to start your day ONLY if you enjoy fresh / tasty coffees and teas and right out of the oven pastries. The staff is most friendly and helpful. We recommend eating in to enjoy the people watching early in the day.

Such a hidden gem. Bread, pastries, coffee café. Very relaxing. grab a newspaper and enjoy an afternoon break, or morning breakfast.

Cozy little bakery downtown that can get crowded at times. They make lots of different breads, and nice pastries to choose from. Pleasant stop for coffee and a snack.

Artisan has excellent breads and sweets. Coffee is just so so. They could improve on the way they serve coffee and tea to customers. The place is a throwback to the Hippite Era of the 70s . Tables and chairs do not match. Everyone sits close together. Go there for the bread products and sweets. Get coffee someplace else.

This place gets better every year. The bread and pastry are top notch. The coffee is excellent and now they have sandwiches and more tables. The bread pudding is especially good.

This young couple, veterans of the great Standard Baking in Portland, ME, opened this topnotch bakery up almost a decade ago. What they do best is bread, particularly any of the sourdough related ones. I remember talking to someone about whether a bakery in Salem, MA selling $4 loaves of bread would survive. Well, quickly, there were lines out the... More

We stopped in for a quick sandwich before leaving town. I got the ham sandwich and the wifey got the smoked salmon. Very enjoyable, light and healthy. All of the bread selections looked good and smelled even better. ... . .

For breads and sandwiches, I am sure A&J is good but their pastries are okay. If you want more authentic, go to Ziggy's. I had a Pumpkin Sugar bun there that was good but no wow factor. I will have to try it again when I go back up to Salem.

Smells so good you will want to enjoy your coffee sitting amongst the aromas. Breads are all great. Pastries are to die for...delicious and wholesome. Treats from here class up a meeting in a way donuts never will. The sesame-studded sea-urchin-like bread will be on our Thanksgiving table again this year.
