we recently ate lunch outdoors with our 2 month old at this cafe.delighted that it had a shade canopy. the staff were very friendly and accommodating and the food was out of this world!!! Highly recommend the mussels- crazy good flavor going on in that broth. where else can you get Maine root sodas and coconut water with your meal?!... More

it's not about the decor. And it's certainly not about the air conditioning, which did not seem to be working on the very hot day I was there. I had a fan blowing straight up the back of my neck while I ate. The food took a long time, which I guess would make sense as it's called "Scratch" and... More

We ate here on July 5th when Salem was very hot and very crowded. There is outdoor and indoor seating and the air conditioning indoors was not up to the job. The waitstaff seemed a little frazzled and rushed. HOWEVER, the food was excellent!! I would visit again when it is less crowded to give them another chance. Good value... More

We were touring our out of town guests around Salem and decided to grab a quick bite to eat at Scratch Kitchen. After walking around the historic waterfront area, Scratch Kitchen appeared to be the best option. When we arrived we noticed the A/C was not working so we decided to dine outside on the sidewalk. The service was just... More

We were very disappointed in Salem, but Scratch Kitchen saved it. Amazing flavors! Great little hole in the wall type place. Some dishes are a little pricey but its worth it!

Okay so what is up with the VERY loud music? I always think that the restaurant caters to its employees rather than customers when the music is cranked up so you cant talk (at lunch time) and the air conditioning is set so cold the customers have their coats on (but perfect if you are running around serving people. We... More

wow. How amazing and simple was the food at Scratch kitchen! Once you eat here you will want to go back! We did! For the Elvis sandwich...we've had them before but THIS was poetry. Maple bacon, fresh peanut butter, bananas foster jam, all on french toast (that part, the french toast, was a brunch special, the regular version of the... More

We stopped in at Scratch Kitchen for lunch without really knowing anything about the restaurant. We looked at the menu and it sounded pretty good, so we decided to give it a try. We had a really fantastic meal. We shared the pulled-pork sandwich and the Scratch salad. The sandwich was delicious, one of the better barbecue sandwiches we've had... More
