We were on a bus trip and time was limited, We were seated right away, after 10 minutes of being ignored and seeing other patrons being attended to even though they arrived after us. We had to flag down a waiter who said I guess I could take your order. One of our party asked for something on the special... More

Went here for a birthday dinner 20 minutes before closing and they were more than happy to accomodate the 7 of us. The beer was the freshest we had in Salem (lots of stale kegs--not so at Scratch Kitchen-- everything is fresh, including the beer! 3 of us at the table had the fish tacos, and although they were a... The food was amazing, the service was great!! I would definitely eat here when you visit. I had a veggie burger which was amazing. Everything is homemade including the rolls. The homemade chips were so great. The beer selection was awesome. A must eat!!

I came upon this place when I had been walking for a couple of hours and I realized I was so hungry. Its a cute place and I really liked it. I had the veggie panini with their house made pickled veggies and goat cheese. It was really good!

We decided to try Scratch Restaurant after it was named "best barbecue" on the North Shore by the North Shore magaizine. We weren't disappointmed. The server obviously liked working there and was proud of the menu offering us many suggestions. My husband had an assortment of smoked meat including port, ham and bacon. There was plenty left over for another... More

I thought the food was really great - had the Pork + Pork Sandwich (roasted pork shoulder & ham) excellent. Slight vinegar base which I love. Unique but awesome clam chowder - no flour so it's thinner with some pork bits added - super delicious. Staff was attentive & friendly. Nothing frozen, no warming lights...menu is 100% their creation. Loved... More

After visiting Peabody Essex Museum, we walked a few short blocks to Scratch Kitchen. The place was very busy, so we took a table outside. Our meal started out with Bacon Popcorn...has to be tasted to be believed! Very flavorful! We also had cheese fries. The fries were excellent on their own and dip them into the cheese and they... So, Scratch Kitchen takes pride in its bacon. That's a shame. The pieces of vaguely familiar black shards of pork ruined an otherwise good meal. If you like your bacon burned beyond recognition, this is your spot. One of the members of my party loves crisp bacon. Even she thought it was inedible. If you like your bacon soft (as... More

I've been to Scratch Kitchen twice. The first time, a while back, was for lunch. I thought the food was excellent at that time, and the service very good. So maybe things have changed. On a more recent visit, we went for brunch. I was disappointed. For one thing, the brunch menu is a little limited. They have no lunch... More

This wasn't a place I expected to find in a touristy town. We had a very enjoyable lunch and everything was well prepared. The server was attentive and friendly and gave us several ideas of what to visit in Salem. I wish we had this restaurant at home!
