my husband and I visited this place just the other day. Very good. I got a BLT..what can I say but WOW! tons of bacon and really good! My husband got a hamburger and he seemed to enjoy his sandwich. I also like that they give you homemade potatoe chips when you get there. We also got 2 sodas. The... More

If you appreciate organic food, you will love this place. I loved the handmade potato chips. Would eat here again.

Excellent and creative sandwiches, with some of the best bacon I've ever had! A little bit pricey but great food and good service.

Had lunch with a friend there. Had the fish tacos which were good but a little small(only two where most restaurants serve three) They were delicious though. Also had the butternut squash soup which was wonderful. My friend had the clam chowder and a great beet salad, both of which she really enjoyed. We split butterscotch pudding(very subtle flavor) and... More

Excellent selection of freshly cooked food, with real ingredients. But what really caught our eye was the extensive selection of craft beer. Plenty to choose from in bottles and cans (if you must), but a selection of beers on tap and a knowledgable server re-introduced us to the delights of rye ale and mountain ale after bitter disappointments at Little... I wandered in with only 10 minutes to spare not knowing what to expect. I let the staff know I was in a rush and they were just wonderful, I got my food really quickly and they even managed to get me a drink and side orders all in 10 minutes. Not hugely expensive seeing as it's handmade with fresh... More

BLTs, grilled cheese, bacon dusted fries, the best comfort food since Mom's meatloaf . . . that's how I feel about Scratch Kitchen. Add a very knowledgeable beer purveyor (Zack) and a chef who makes everything (even ketchup) from scratch (Bill) . . . and you've got a casual, creative place in downtown Salem.

TINY kitchen that cranks out really good dishes. Only been once for a getaway weekend. I'm a pescatarian and appreciated the fresh and creative choices. Really lovely waiter, but waited a looong time. I can't stand waiting for food, but I'd wait again for the meal that was prepared at Scratch.

I've been here four times and I really want to like it, but I just haven't been able to catch a break. I can say that the food is good, but the price more than accounts for that. The service has been weak to downright bad every time. I once waited there for an hour for an order of eggs... More
