Fun Casual Restaurant

Ordered southern fried chicken dinner. The corn bread and coleslaw were great but the chicken was way overdone and tasted burnt. No seasoning. Would order something else next time. Waiting over 20 minutes since they said that the chicken was cooked fresh.

Have been going to the Bayou for over 20 years and never had a bad meal until tonight. Always ordered the man & cheese which always tasted and looked homemade. Tonight it tasted and looked like doctored Kraft mac/cheese. Also made us a little nauseous (fake cheese? ). Boudin sliders mostly breadcrumbs. Waitress very good and was nicely apologetic, we... Been coming here for years - since it opened. Tonight we had our first bad experience. Took over half an hour to get our appetizers. When they arrived the waitress looked at us and said "they are finally here". Waited another half our and still didn't get our entrees so we canceled them and asked for the check. Check came... I've been to The Bayou numerous times & can honestly say its a Great place for food & fun. This time we went for Mardi Gras Fat Tuesday C J Chenier was performing with his Red Hot Lousiana band & they were outstanding!!! One price for all the food & fun you could want. We were highly disappointed with our experience here- wanted so much to like this place. Food is nothing to write home about. I liked the cornbread, but the voodoo wings were a huge disappointment- overcooked and not very flavorful. Had the mudbugs as an app and they were OK. So was the fried chicken and cornbread but the meal was... More

Interesting premise but not as delicious as Cajun food could be. Seems like something has gotten lost in the translation. Heavy on fried dishes, the food just didn't sparkle. A catfish po boy was okay, chicken was also okay. Drinks weren't anything unusally good . There's nothing really wrong about the Bayou, but there's nothing really outstanding either.

Definitely the cooking of the Parishes of Louisiana… southern inspired but more of the cajun. Good food… The frog legs are awesome… seasoned perfectly… for the westchester crowd the po boys are quite good.. so you do not have to go into the city for a decent po boy. The best dish is by far the colored greens… they are... More

The Bayou is a perfect place for a comfortable and casual family gathering. Recently attended a surprise 65th birthday there that was very enjoyable. It was my first time having Creole food and enjoyed the flavorful cuisine. And the service was very good. Location is also very convenient and on a quaint part of Mt. Vernon.
