The kind of place that gives holes in the wall great reputations

Went here for some authentic Mexican food. Prices were very reasonable with all sorts of choices. Special nachos with dried beef (matcha a)were multilayered with delicious beans, salsa, guacamole, cheddar cheese and jalapeños that easily satisfied all four of us. It is worth the drive to find this place for eating good and affordable lunch or dinner. They are also great for take out.

I grew up in Tucson eating Mexican food. I'm fairly picky... Especially about tacos and enchiladas. If you're in the mood and not afraid of the drive, I might add, the most scenic drive through Gates Pass, into the Tucson Mountains, then Los Nopales is a must. Its not fancy. Its downright homey in an endearing sort of way. But... More

Nice average tex-mex meal on your way through the desert. Had some enchiladas and chile rollenos, a cold beer and were on our way. But of a hole in the wall, and the bars on the windows could be a bit off putting to some, but those people should throw caution to the desert wind, stop in and live a... More

This was a little "hole in the Wall" that was a welcome site for the area. The enchiladas, rice, beans and salsa were good, but the fish (talipia) tacos were beyond their prime (tasted fishy).

Your basic, average, 2-enchiladas-rice-and-beans kind of place. For me, that's comfort food, and this place is very comfortable. Generous portions, attentive service, lack of pretense, and beer-wine sales - what's not to like?

Enjoyed the crisps. Great service! Can't go wrong here. It gets very busy and they close early, but we really liked the food.

This very popular small town restaurant serves the basic Mexican fare, but nothing special. Options are limited in this area so you’d have to travel further to find alternatives. They have a limited beer selection and no margaritas. They offer a lime-wine cooler that is a poor substitute, so if you’re looking for the full range experience, look elsewhere.

WE were visiting iin Tucson for two weeks. WE tried recommendations from sevceral people, locals and tourists. This was the best of the recommendations. Los Nopales is by no means fancy, very plain with just formica tables and hand lettered signs. The food on the other hand is tops. I had my favorite the chili rellenos and my husband the chimachanga. We recently had dinner at Los Nopales restaurant. Dinner was very good. All four people in our party enjoyed their meal. Service was fast and courteous. Would recommend for good authentic Mexican food.
