This place is mentioned on page one of the J. A. Jance novel Queen of the Night. It's nothing fancy, just very good food that is delivered surprisingly fast. A long history in Tucson and deservedly so. A nice family place for a great breakfast very reasonably priced.

Someone told us to try Gus Balon's. We stopped in for lunch and had the daily special, a grilled burger patty smothered in grilled onions and gravy, severed with mashed potatoes. Very tasty and filling. After we left we heard that they are famous for their cinnamon rolls. May have to go back for one some day.

Gus Balon's has been around for years so they must be doing something right. The restaurant is clean and a nice dive/diner style place that specializes in breakfast and a comfort food lunch. I hadn't eaten there in years, but decided on Gus Balon's since it was close to the part of town some visiting friends were in. We met... More

Just ate at Gus Balon's. Had my heart set on biscuits & gravy, but they only have em' on Tuesdays. My fall back was cheesy grits and eggs, but they don't have grits. I sipped some (very weak) coffee with non-dairy creamer, (they didn't have half-n-half), while perusing the menu. I prefer Splenda in my coffee, but they don't have... More

Breakfast portions are huge. Alright, I didn't realize this until I was absolutely full, but the Sweet rolls ARE their cinnamon rolls. Was in there looking for it on the menu because of all the hype and didn't find it. I did order their French toast and it wasn't what I expected from another yelper review. It wasn't made with... Went to Gus Balon’s today for the first time in quite a while, and was reminded of how truly awesome it is! We are VERY experienced travelers who have lived all over the world. There is absolutely no place that can match this for breakfast, and the quality of Balon’s luncheon menu is unsurpassed if you want top-of-the-line American grub!... More

My husband, two grandsons ages 6 and 7 years, and I had breakfast at Gus Balon's. What a great time for all! The children's menu had a great selection and so much better than what we find at most places. Our breakfast was great even though the portions were large. The sweet roll was not only huge but delicious. All... More

We had a late lunch/dinner at Gus Balons since it was written up in Jane and Michael Stern's book "Roadfood". They cite it as a good place to get breakfast. Since we were there late in the afternoon after a visit to the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, we tried their sandwiches. The sandwiches were excellent and stuffed with filings. The were... More

We went to Gus Balon's for breakfast. The eggs and potatoes were average, the pie was great. My wife had the chocolate, banana, peanut butter pie, which she loved. I had the butterscotch, which was average. Good service. Worth the price.
