Luke's Italian Beef

Been a customer of Luke's for over 30 yrs, since they were located on 29th St. east of Alvernon, now located on Alvernon, just north of 29th St. They make the best Italian beef sandwich in Tucson. There are other Luke's, but this one is the best. I've heard they have a great meatball sandwich and... read more

Just got back from a golfing trip to Tucson. On the way from the airport to our condo we stumbled upon Lukes. There were a group of police officers having lunch on the picnic tables in front of the restaurant. That was enough to tell us to stop and eat. And we did and the beef sandwiches and fries were... While the outside of Luke's is not very inviting and the inside could use a facelift, we loved the ribeye with onions, mushrooms, melted cheese and au jus. We, actually, went back twice and ordered the same sandwiches. It wouldn't take much to make the place more inviting. We had purchased a Groupon coupon or we probably would never have... More

Had a Groupon to this place. I enjoyed the food and the people working. I had the italian beef sandwich, which surprisingly was very tasty. Lots of meat and dipped. The sandwich was big enough to take some home, so you might try sharing. Worth the trip if your in Tucson.

This was by far one of the worst sandwiches I have ever had! They call it the "Itallion Beef". It was nothing more than a tasteless French dip! The service was just as bad. I should have realized that on a Friday night at 6 o'clock we were the only ones there that there would be an issues. This place... More

A friend told us we must go try the Italian Beef and the Chicago Dog. So, we found this place through the road construction and gave it a try. The Chicago Dog comes with french fries (lots of them). It was tasty and good. The italian beef was good, but nothing to rave about. This was about the only place... More

This is Lukes flagship location and never ever disappoints. There are several other locations, at least one run be Lukes son. I nearly always get the Italian Beef but the other choices are good also. Luke keeps the menu simple so he devote his talents to what he does best. Also this is a gun friendly restaurant. Usually about half... More

I hate having to write this because I have enjoyed Luke's on Alvernon for years. I started going in 1993 and I enjoyed eating JUST the Italian beef sandwiches. I ordered fries one time, but I didn't like them and haven't had them since. My wife was craving a Chicago hot dog (dog) from Luke's and I never had one... More

The amount of meat and the flavor of the flavor combined with that all important price makes this a place to stop and eat
