Great Jazz and food

We go to Cushings evey year and are never disappointed. We go with a group of friends to listen to their jazz band and have an enjoyable evening downtown ,an area of town which we do not care very much, too far from where we are staying after a day of hiking . The menu is simple but consistently... read more

We wanted a restaurant with Southwest influenced American cuisine, not the usual burrito joint, and were delighted by Cushing Street. Arriving after 7:00 we found that the dinner crowd had vanished, and were seated right away. Food was imaginative and delicious, service attentive. Location relatively close to downtown was easy to get to, parking a snap in the lot right... More

Warm, inviting, charming, cosy, free parking, not intrusive servers, delicious appetizers....the mushrooms and the smoked trout. Then after the beet salad, we shared the swordfish which was moist & seasoned well but not overdone. We'd go back in a minute! Cushing Street would be good for conversations with friends because it's not noisy--at 7 pm on a weeknight.

Food is good and reasonable. It has a wonderful courtyard in the back where very good jazz groups play.

Stopped here before a show at the Tucson Music Hall, the parking lot attendant recommended it and it's a quick walk from the lot. Unfortunately for us, the Gem Show had just closed up; the place was packed and we didn't have a reservation. The hostess offered to let us sit at the table right behind her which was very... More

Last week, we had friends in from out of town and we were showing them our downtown. On a whim, we decided to swing by Cushing Street without a reservation hoping that they may have a table available. We walked in early around 5:30 and there seemed to be plenty of opened tables. The hostess greeted us with a huge... More

The best thing going for the Cushing Street Bar and Restaurant is that it is just across the street from the Tucson Community Center (TCC). So if you're attending an event it's a great place to grab a bite to eat or have a drink beforehand. Even better, you can leave your car in their parking lot and avoid the... More

Sir, we provide parking to accommodate our customers while they are at the restaurant, not while they are attending other venues. In your reviews you mention that you attend church, you frequently dine out and paying over $100 for a meal is within your budget. Clearly you can afford to pay for parking at the TCC. I don't understand why... More

This is where we go before concerts at the Tucson Music Hall - you can park at the Music Hall and walk across to the restaurant. Really nice atmosphere and good food. Good Happy Hour deals. Just a bit noisy. First class except for the paper napkins!

Host (owner?) was helpful and chatty. Decided to order burgers and which were huge and cooked perfectly to order (medium rare.) The side of roasted potatoes were pretty dry and an order of the bacon mac and cheese was sadly lacking in cheese. It was very watery. Disappointing. All in all, it was fine and I would probably go again,... More

Four of us. All agreed, food was very good. Drinks were imaginative and good. Wines were good. Server was a very genial fellow.
