Mama Louisa's has been a Tucson family favorite since 1956 and our family has been dining here for decades. I have to eat gluten free so I always check ahead of time to make sure my diet can be accommodated. When I called here I was told they were very well informed and that it would be no problem as they had a great menu. When we arrived I discovered the only dish they had that was gluten free... More

Improvements keep coming to Original Mama Louisa's on Craycroft. The 2 Mikes (the chefs) are keeping up to a higher standard, and things have evolved to a new level. Chef Michael Elefante has filled his Dad's footsteps well, and he and Mike Press have a watchful eye on all aspects of the food that leaves the kitchen. Try the Caprese... More

We live close to this place, and a friend that grew up in Tucson recommended it. We finally gave it a try, and we do not plan to try it again. My husband had Joe's Special, and I had Mama's Special (comes with lasagna, eggplant Parmesan and tortellini). The only thing I liked was the eggplant Parmesan. It was quite... More

I was pleased to discover Mama Louisa's. There aren't may good Italian restaurants in Tucson and this one is not bad. The calamari was crispy and was a good portion. The chicken parm came with a large plump chicken breast and the portion was excellent. Prices, service, and food were all great.

We were so disappointed in our last trip here. Both hubby and I had more water in our bowl from the pasta than red sauce. Our salads were good not great. The red sauce was so watered down it wasn't a bit tasty. We have been here hundreds of times in the last 40 years and it was always delicious.... More

My wife and I were in town for a small vacation and drove past Momma Louisa's daily. We decided to eat out and wanted to find a restaurant not too far from where we were staying and decided to stop at Momma Louisa's. Being from out of town, we were unaware that it was graduation weekend at the University of... More

This is by far our favorite Italian restaurant in Tucson. The have a large menu with lots of great looking meals. However, we always get the soup, salad and pasta bar lunch special. The home Italian wedding soup is so good. With lots of little meal balls and seasoned just right. The salad, has the usual fare, except they do... More

Their homemade pasta is quite good and their food is always well-made. It's not super exciting and is very standard-fare Italian but it's consistently good. I'd skip the deserts - the tiny serving of Spumoni costs 6 dollars. The salad bar is adequate. Sometimes they have mixed greens and sometimes it's iceberg. They have the standard dressings, fake bacon bits,... More
