A Treat for us Gringos

While on a business trip to Tucson from Phoenix, one of my coworkers suggested this small restaurant in South Tucson. I had never had a Sonoran Hot Dog, but was game. Thank goodness I was - what a yummy treat! A char-broiled hot dog within a bolillo (a wonderful sweet Mexican roll), add a little... read more

Heard about the Sonoran Hotdog and just had to try it. It was delicious! We also had the guacamole which was excellent. I would eat here again.

First off the food was not bad, but not what I expected. I was on a quest to find the perfect Sonaran dog. I had seen and heard about these dogs and had been wanting to try one for a while now. The reviews on Tripadvisor for this place were excellent. I love hot dogs and I also love bolillos,... More

We found this place on the Road Food website. We were the only tourists in the place. You order at the counter and they bring out your food. Husband had a Sonoran dog that he loved. I had a carne asada taco that was wonderful - different form other places with good flavor. There were an assortment of condiments, including... More

If you have never tried one you have to have a Sonoran hotdog! get it just the way it comes and add a little cheese. Be careful; of the roasted pepper served alongside if you don't like spicy because they will light you up! Wednesdays special is two hotdogs and a drink for $6.99 and it is worth every penny.... I'm not sure if they deliver but I'd drive there anyhow !!! The food was simple YET very delicious !! I had their signature Sonoran Hot Dog called the Sammy !!!! It was so great & the restaurant defiantly has a VERY AUTHENTIC MEXICAN VIBE !! It was like I was eating in Mexico without crossing the border or worrying... More

Not a fancy place, grew up from a hot dog stand. Step right up and order some of the most deliciously simple Sonoran treats. Huge relish table where you can dress up your burritos, tacos etc with some of the very best roasted chilis, salsas and veggies. Top it off with a cold sweet Mexican pop and you will be... More

While El Guero Canelo (which means cinnamon blonde ) is famous for their dogs, their menu of other Mexican dishes is memorable. For those unfamiliar with the Sonora Dogs they are a hot dog wrapped in bacon with many toppings. I understand that the bun is made in a bakery in Mexico and is delicious, a little sweet and a... Like a lot of people I gained interest in eating a Sonoran Dog by watching Man Vs Food. I finally got the chance last weekend while in Tucson. First of all the restaurant is not located in the best area of Tucson, kinda sketchy! That didn't bother me too much. Most of Tucson is sketchy and is hard to tell... More

Love the Sonoran hot dog. It is not like any hot dog you get away from Tucson. Other Mexican dishes are terrific and they provide a wonderful condiments bar for all the fixings and grilled peppers and green onions.
