Our owner, Natasha Kalina, was born and raised in Minsk, Belarus, in what was then the Soviet Union. Her parents were both from Ukraine and raised Natasha with a deep respect and love for a huge variety of traditions of local celebrations, home-grown food, and family recipes from many different cultures. Natasha's most cherished memories almost always involve parties at her home, and standing in the kitchen with her mother to help cook for the guests. Cooking was in their DNA. There were never any cookbooks, but everyone always knew how to prepare a variety of recipes that never failed to be perfect in taste, texture, and presentation. Ever since she arrived in the United States, Natasha has always dreamt of opening a restaurant with the sole intention of bringing her delicious childhood memories to people from all walks of life. She is extremely proud to have been living her dream for the last thrilling year and a half and is excited for you to come down and join the family today!

Wonderful and different!!!

What a gem this is! Ukrainian food at it's most authentic, and the owners are the nicest, friendliest people you could hope to have as hosts. We had a wonderful meal, some amazing caviar, traditional soups, stroganoff and chicken kiev, plus two marvelous deserts, the traditional cherry dumplings with sour cream were delish, and I didn't get a look in... My wife and I have family and friends who are Russians from Ukraine. So, we have experienced first hand virtually all of the menu items which this lovely little gem of a restaurant offers. We had the beef stroganoff with the olivier salad. I was really taken with how authentic and wonderful the olivier salad was. The stroganoff was also... More

This is the best place for Russian food in Tucson. The atmosphere is wonderful. I recommend a visit to everyone who is in the mood for great food.

This place is such a treat-wonderful food, great service and friendly owners. We came on a Friday night and even had good live music that was the perfect level-not too loud but just right. We had 7 people and fit right in and really enjoyed ourselves. Try the vodka-very good and the food was amazing-good appetizers, great entrees and great... More

Delicious authentic fare from Russia and Ukraine. The Ukrainian Borscht was very tasty as were the Vareniki, which were served with a dollop of sour cream and a sweet, yet slightly tart cherry sauce drizzled over the top. It was absolutely wonderful. My wife had the chicken Pelmeni and enjoyed it, although she preferred the flavor of my Vareninki. The... More

After hearing about a Russian restaurant in Tucson for many months, my friends and I decided to give it a try on a recent visit, and we were most assuredly not disappointed. From the borsch to the stroganoff I ordered, with an assortment of interesting Russian beers and a light berry cake for desert, my friends and I were very... More

After several visits we have decided that Kalina is the best restaurant in Tucson! The food is wonderful, always served hot! The selection is unique and the variety is interesting. This is the only restaurant that I can think of that has soft background music and is quiet enough to talk with others at the table. Great selection of wine,... More

We love Kalina's! Great Atmosphere, great attention to you, as if you were a guest in their home. The food is authentic and delicious...not like you are in a big box franchise store with no flavor and the same old, same old! They take time to explain things to you, and you get plenty of delicious food, with exquisite flavors... More

Global politics aside, this is a Russian one could easily love. The owner's background has Russian and Ukranian influences and both serve her very well. The atmosphere and food are superb. There is an extensive menu that includes what I assume are traditional Russian/Ukranian dishes. Our party of four each had a different dish and everyone was very pleased with... More

We went here with guests from out of town. It was our first visit and we were mightily impressed. This is a small restaurant with an interesting menu of Russian foods including a caviar menu. Two of us had the prix fixe choices which included five courses at a very reasonable price. The other two ordered ala carte from the... More
