top notch standard Middle Eastern spreads

Tried the vegetarian plate: falafel, hummos, baba ganoush, tabouleh. My wife and I agreed this was the second best falafel we've ever had: crispy, light, flavorful (the best was on the Edgeware Road in London). The hummos and baba ganoush were precisely the right consistency- so often the downfall... read more

My wife and I agreed this was the second best falafel we've ever had: crispy, light, flavorful (the best was on the Edgeware Road in London). The hummos and baba ganoush were precisely the right consistency- so often the downfall of Middle Eastern spreads - and, again, very flavorful. The tabouleh... More

We were looking for something different and inexpensive, and found it at Zayna. We're spending a week in Tucson and didn't want another fine dining restaurant, so head out to Zayna for a quick dinner. The neighborhood is nondescript (tattoo parlors, car dealers and other commercial establishments, but the food was worth it. The portions are plentiful, and the food... More

Wow! This place has a small diner feel, but they make the best baba ganoush ever. And their hummus--outstanding. The garlic sauce for their shawarma delighted the palate. Not so amazing salad or green beans, but great prices--$11 for a full meal. Then for "afters" you can choose among baklava: pistachio, cashew or walnut. The mint tea had a delightful... More

Decor isn't too impressive but everything else was good: food quality, price, service, location. We only come once a year to Tucson but would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

Oh boy, am I glad my husband and I dropped into Zayne Mediterranean Cafe yesterday. This small cafe is pleasant, easy to get to, has free parking and is open on Mondays. (Note: Several restaurants are closed on Mondays in Tucson, AZ.) The service was excellent. The food was exceptional and I cannot wait to return to try something new.... More

I was surprised, after reading rave reviews about this place, that it was only average. My companion liked his combo grill plate but my plate of tabbouleh, hummus and falafel was just ok. A bit too lemony. Nothing that knocked my socks off, and I wouldn't necessarily hurry back. The staff was friendly but not overly so. An average dining... More

I got the Combination plate with lamb kicks and it was delicious. The felafel is the best I have had and the Sesame seeds add a wonderful flavor. The lamb kicks was juicy, flavorful and delicately enhanced by the tatziki yogurt sauce. The grape leaves were tasty, and the Zayna french fries were amazing. The service was friendly and prompt.... We were introduced to Zayna by some friends and had lunch there. I am vegetarian and had the Mujadara plate which is a lentil stew on rice with yogurt on the side, as well as a green salad. Everything was very fresh and that was quite possibly the best lentil dish I have had--ever. Service was great! Obviously a popular... More

I had a craving for falafel and after reading all the reviews I decided to come here. The place was packed, which is a good sign. The dining room is a bit small, but cozy. The servers are great, really polite and helpful. I had the Combination Plate, which had lamb kifta, falafel, dolma(stuffed grape leaves), hummus, pita and a salad.... More

I love Mediterranean food and used to frequent nearby Ali Baba but now that I found Zayna I'll never go back. The dining room is clean, bright, and inviting. The service is fast and friendly. And the food. The food is delicious, affordable, and healthy. I've loved everything I've tried so far. Five stars.
