Not Fancy but Solid Mexican and Reasonably Priced

Went here on the recommendation of a friend who grew up in Tucson and he hit the nail on the head. Local color and flavor - solid Mexican food and reasonably priced. Not the typical tourist place but close to downtown. Give it a shot.

After living almost 20 yrs. in Tucson, my family and I finally decided to try this place as it was conveniently located near the Convention Center. Unfortunately, the food and service were both quite bland. The salsa sauce tasted like it simply came from a tasteless tomato can sprinkled with a bottle of some flavorless hot sauce. The chicken burrito... More

We went here twice while our family was visiting and gorged on cheese crisps. Ordered the cheese crisp with tomatoes, onions and green chiles and had guacamole added. Second time the waiter had a hard time understanding adding the guac to the cheese crisp and brought us a bowl of it instead. Ah well, easy to add by ourselves! If... More

Good authentic foor at a fair price. Waiter was great. Watching the cashier and her boyfriend hugging kissing and stuff during dinner was a little bit of a turn off and unprofessional. Otherwise a decent option.

This is a very good mexican restaurant downtown Tucson by the Convention Center. It looks like the typical mexican food restaurant from the outside but the food was very good. This was recommended to us by a tour guide and he certainly was right. Good service and quick dellvery of our nice and hot meals. Chips and dip brought to... More

This place was recommended to us by a friend and he recommended the cheese crisp. It's like a big thin crust pizza, we tried that on a previous visit and loved it. This visit we went for breakfast and both the Huevos Rancheros and the Chorizo and eggs were great! Served piping hot! The service was great and I would... More

This place is what every Mexican restaurant should strive to be. Good food, large portions, friendly service, and ambiance everywhere. First, the menudo is served daily and is superb. So any hangover day, this place is the cure. But the enchiladas are good and so is everything we tried. Authentic salsa, great fajita, superb friendly service with an ice tea... More

I was attending a conference down the street and a group of us went to El Minuto for lunch. We were seated quickly and drinks arrived soon after. The chips and salsa were just average. The food was served quickly and was nice and hot. My chicken burrito was flavorful and the chicken was nice and tender. Everyone in our... More

Tried this restaurant on the recommendation of the volunteer at the museum next door. We enjoyed the meal but it was more costly and not as good as back in Oregon. Service was a bit slow but they were very busy on Saturday afternoon. Drinks were more reasonable than most places we've visited while in the area. Menu says the... More

We enjoyed our meal, and the service was prompt and friendly. There wasn't anything we really disliked, but the food didn't appear to be exceptional either. We would go back, I just wouldn't rate it as highly as some others in Tucson.
