Nice place to take your out-of-towner friends or for a romantic date

I used to live in Tucson and take my friends to El Charro as a mild intro into Sonoran food. Now I'm the tourist and my friends take me there when I visit. I have always enjoyed the food and the service. It's moderately priced, has a great atmosphere inside and out due to the historic area and... read more

A lovely evening with old friends who have all eaten often at El Charro was damaged by horrible service and cold food. It took a long time to get our drinks which were watered down and even chips and salsa and water. Our server Steve was not at all attentive. When our food finally arrived we requested silverware twice until... More

We are baffled by the reviews on this. Even the hotel recommended it! The atmosphere and food were not so good! Even the salsa and chips tasted like store bought! The food...blahhhh. The margarita, so weak! I would not recommend this place at all. We were so disappointed.

I went hear with a friend to celebrate an engagement, there was 8 of us there. I had been there a couple of times so I highly recommended it. The service, atmosphere and the unbelievable food was everything I expected and more. Thank you for making this such a special day for our friends.

Great historic restaurant in downtown Tucson. The Carne Seca is their specialty. It's one thing to see it being dried in specially designed steel cages swaying in the wind. But, the real pleasure is actually tasting it. The best by far! Before you get to the Carne Seca, however, you and your group must share a Tostada Grande de Tucson.... More

This was a great place to have conversations with staff while eating. The food is wonderful and the drinks are perfect. We love going to a restaurant and sitting at the bar and talking with the bartender about the town. This place has an unbelievably kind and outgoing staff. Great atmosphere and great service.

Great Carne Seca plates, best mexican rice in town and don't forget to order your Margarita. It's in old town Tucson so the building is a historic building with a beautiful fountain in the back and an unusual basement. You must eat at El Charro if you visit Tucson. It's a staple of the old good traditional sonoran food

El Charro is a very old structure, built from local volcanic rock. Inside it is always busy, but relaxed. The Cafe popular among discerning Tucson residents so you need to book ahead for a table. The Mexican food here is outstanding: brilliantly cooked. Staff are friendly and ready to advise customers.

There is no way a visit to Tucson should not include a trip and meal at El Charro's Cafe. The cafe is in the home of the founder and even the steps were built by her husband, who was a stone worker from Mexico but was French I understand. I have had occasion to meet many of the family members... More

My family of 5 had lunch here while visiting relatives in Tucson. They have a great kids menu, and I finally got to try a Sonoran hotdog, which was fantastic! The service was top notch..very attentive. Highly recommend!
