I have dined at El Charro Cafe for dinner 4 times over the last 3 years while visiting Tucson. I have found it to be fresh, delightfully unique, and offers great service. Even when there is a line to get in they get to you quickly and the food is delivered fast and hot. If you are in time for... More

We had the chicken mole and cod with salsa topping. Both came with Tuscan-style beans and creamy chopped vegetables. Not a drop of the usual tomato sauce that covers Mexican dishes. It was superb! Can't wait to go back.

Met up with a large group of family and friends and they handled us with finesse. Seafood Enchiladas were great !

Oh my. Great ambiance. Excellent carne seca. Friendly waitstaff. But watch out and allow a lot of time in this completely disorganized place. What do I mean? It starts at the front door where the gentleman wants you to sit on the porch. No we say, inside please. Well he goes away to check on a table for two and... More

Very good Mexican food. When I was there, it was packed, but it was a good packed. We only had to wait a few minutes for seats, and the service was prompt and excellent.

We had a delicious lunch at El Charro! The lunch menu was reasonably priced, and the margaritas were fabulous. Our waiter was very busy with a lot of tables, but his recommendations were on point. Finished with delicious fried ice cream. The restaurant building itself has lots of character. Would definitely return.

Went with our neighbors before heading off to the Wildcats Hockey game last week. Place was packed (Friday night), even though we were early. Had to sit outside in the patio area. Weather was warmish, so not a problem. Food was outstanding, just as it always has been. Got there just in time for Happy Hour bar prices (for the... More

We live in San Diego and there are lots of great Mexican restaurants here. but we love El Charro. The original location is a converted house in the old part of town near lots of government buildings, art and craft shops. Their signature dish is carne seca, slightly air dried beef that when cooked has a unique flavor and texture.... More

We had lunch here during a recent road trip to AZ. We had seen this restaurant on the Zimmern's TV show. The carne seca is wonderful - although dried meat, it was not overly dry and was very flavorful and unique. The place was hopping with folks from local businesses - there was a bit of a wait for folks... More

We have been here twice before, they tout the Carne Aseca but for me, sun dried meat with spices just ain't my thing. The carnita is very good, had the tamale sampler, excellent. Margaritas are heavenly, even though the Cadillac makes me a little wobbly! Anyone coming to Tucson should try this place at least once if they like Mexican... More
