First time in Tucson and Arizona we we looking for genuine local experiences and we've found it plenty at El Charro - great atmosphere, great cuisine, great service. We wanted to taste local dishes and we've got the Carne Secco platter + the Bandiera sampler. Everything was great, full of flavor and not as overly spicy as we expected. Their... More

You are transported from everyday life to an older exquisite black and red room adorned with interesting overhead lamps. We were quickly seated at a table as requested and had water, chips and salsa immediately. The chips were warm and the salsa a dark smokey smooth blend which was spicey and very delicious. We also got some guacamole which had... More

El Charro is great. The food is spectacular and the atmosphere is always fun. Been to the one on Oracle and the one downtown. I prefer the one downtown but the food is equally great at both.

Javierr was a superb host in this wonderful and authentic Mexican restaurant in the Presidio area. We tried the appetizer sampler along with the queso/cream platter - called it the Loco Gringo Special. These were the appetizers and we had just that - and had take away!

El Charro will always have a special place in my heart, as it's a restaurant I went to countless times with my grandparents before they passed. The food is delicious, and I've never found another Mexican restaurant that makes flat enchiladas or the amazing cheese crisp! A must try!

Always stop at El Charro when I'm in Tucson. The carne seca is a must order. House margaritas are the best I've had; don't waste $$ upgrading to fancier ones. Make sure and patronize the downtown, original location, it's an interesting place.

I saw this place in a couple of different travel books and checked it out on Trip Adviser, so we decided to give it a go. We got there later in the evening, around 7ish on the Friday after Thanksgiving. There were two or three groups ahead of us with 10+, but my husband and I got seated after about... More

We stopped here at the recommendation of our hostess at El Presidio B&B. Very glad that we did! Initially we intended to just have a glass of wine on the patio, but our waiter, Javierr, was so gracious and friendly we decided to stay for dinner. He made some recommendations from the menu to sample several authentic Mexican dishes. So... More

We were charged another $3.95 each for Elegante style ( add guacamole, crema & pico salsa. Another item the server never mentioned !! Beware of add ons... More

Pretty disappointed with food and service this time and we had been looking forward to returning here after last year. Food came cold and I really should have said something. I decided to try a vegetarian enchilada on a combination plate and it was bland and boring. It just seemed old. I even told our waiter that I would not... More
