I feel bad not rating El Charro higher because it is one of the oldest Mexican food restaurants in the area and gets a lot of notice. However, there are much tastier Mexican food restaurants in the area and I've never been able to convince myself otherwise despite numerous visits (birthdays, invitations from friends, etc.) There are some exceptions, but... One of the two best places to eat Mexican food in Tucson, the Mexican food capitol of the United states. The salsa is superb, carne Seca is the best I've eaten and the rolled chicken tacos are without peer. Eat there, but only if you want the best in authentic Sonoran style Mexican food. Ymmmm. I'm hungry just talking about... More

My husband and I were vacationing in Tucson. Ate here twice in 1 week! Fish tacos were really good. Margaurita's delicious. Loved being in the place were it all started. Tables are close together so be aware. Reasonable prices. Several different rooms. Very casual.

I live within 100 feet of this restaurant. It is another place that is very popular with tourists. My wife and I stop for drinks, or go in for a lunch. When visitors come to town, we take them here for a meal. As an interesting "feature" look on the roof. You may see big steel screened structures. Inside these... More

This traditional downtown restaurant is a great place to visit for a fun dinning experience. The servers are always friendly, informative and fast. We like the whole place, there is the history of the restaurant in every room. The Bar and outdoor seating area's are wonderful. The building is a historic adobe located in the old town section of Tucson. The food... More

Love their food, their bar area while waiting and their food presentation. Always seems crowded and they have a real good drink deal during happy hour. Servers are always pleasant and usually speedy. Their menu is large and everything I have tasted is good. Great margarita too.

We have been here dozens of times. We always seem to come back because friends have company in town and it is a well know Tucson Mexican restaurant. Service is terrible and slow. I mean slow. One time at lunch we had to walk out be/c no one had taken our order after 35 minutes of being there. When you... More

The best Mexican food if you are looking for authentic Mexican food. The original has been downtown since 1922. A newer one in the foothills on the corner of Kolb and Sunrise, near Ventana Canyon, is just as good as th original, same owner and menu.

Great Sonoran Mexican cuisine. A must if you are in Tucson. Wait can be a little long because it is popular.
