Don't miss this place!

Fantastic Mexican restaurant in the Presidio section of old Tucson. We come here once a year and live the ambience. I ordered número uno.

Great food. Good ambiance. Excellent margarita. A busy place. Large portions. Really, there is more to say! Would definitely return and recommend.

Established in 1922, this is the nation's oldest Mexican restaurant in continuous operation by the same family. I loved the caldo de queso (cheese and potato soup) and their chile relleno with wonderful green sauce. My friend had a great beef enchilada with green sauce. The refried beans were outstanding. It gets pretty crowded and parking is either a metered... More

This is hands down the best Mexican restaurant in Arizona. The food is amazing and very authentic to this region. The Flores family does an outstanding job. Have many Gluten Free items on the menu.

The service was slow, the margaritas were weak, the salsa tasted from a jar and the chips were stale. The food was bland and in such small portions. Adios El Charro... So sorry, at one time you were the best... Ray get it together...

In many restaurant, flavours blend together and every dish starts to look like the next one. Not at El Charro. Distinctly different each dish has unique flavours, colours and textures. Very very busy but it it is worth the wait. The restaurant is a series of rooms and courtyards with colourful decor.

This was our second visit as we had to eat there one more time before we headed back up north. Husband and I were impressed both times with the food and service. They are the best tacos I have ever had and husbands choices were great also. The staff was helpful, very attentive and just plain great. Thank you for... More

Very poor service---completely forgot about us for 45 minutes---when food came---dry and cold. Will never go back---had taken out of town company and was totally embarrased

I continue to be amazed at why anyone would want to eat here. The food is just not that good. Places like El Charro take on a mystique because they advertise heavily and attract visitors who don't know any better. There are so many other good Mexican restaurants in Tucson you just don't need to waste your time on any... More

If you want some great Mexican food and the best Mexican restaurant ambiance in Tucson - go here first! There is no better in Tucson. If the weather is nice be sure to eat outside in the old courtyard.
