A staple in Tucson

This is a must visit place in Tucson, its been around a long time and always offers a good authentic southwestern meal. If you are adventurous you have to try the Carne Seca - but it is not for everyone - ask for a sample first.

I have been coming to the El Charro Café for over 20 years as I traveled through Tucson on business or pleasure... Its been a family tradition, my Sons now live in Tucson so they are taking their friends. Great Food.. I love the fact that the café resides in a converted home. The food is excellent, reminds me of... More

You cannot go to Tucson and not eat at El Charro. Although all of the El Charro locations offer wonderful mexican food, the original downtown restaurant provides wonderful, rich character to the experience. The carne asada is amazing! The recipe is filled with as much history as the flavor of the entree itself. The cheese crisps are hands down the... More

In Tucson from PHX, several friends had told me about El Charro and it did not disappoint. The food was as good as the service and the people we met at the bar were locals and could not have been nicer. I would suggest anyone local or visitors to experience his land mark place.

Everyone seems to review the entrees, so I'll comment on dessert instead. Order the salted caramel sundae! Crispy strips on top, luscious salted caramel and "local" ice cream. Wonderful

I was so excited to get to go to the Original El Charro. The service was prompt. The decor warm and comfortable. Difficult stairs for HP person such as myself and then maneuvering a wlaker down a narrow furniture filled hallway was difficult access to the single ladies room. The food was authentic. Service was quick and our waiter was... More

The food was good, not great, but the service was so bad it was incredible. We were completely ignored by our waiter, no water refill, he didn't ask us if we wanted more drinks, never mentioned the specials, etc. etc. There are many restaurants who care about customer service... try one of those.

Very traditional and well prepared southwestern fare. Their Carne Asada and traditional flavored Chicken Mole are among the best I've had in Tucson.

I took my grandkids here when they were here for a visit(ages 17 and 13). They had heard that the chimichanga was invented here! My grandson had the chimichanga and loved it!!! My granddaughter and I had the número uno lunch special and it was delicious! The atmosphere is very quaint and warm. The staff were gracious and very efficient.... More

Authentic Mexican restaurant, multi-generational family owned and operated. Multiple locations in town. Great food and drink. Carne seca is the best.
