One of Tucson's Best Mexican Restaurants

Had dinner at El Charro's Downtown location. Have been in business since 1922 -- this location was the family's home. Ordered Prickly Pear BBQ Chicken Bowl (with rice & charro beans) from their $5 Cinco de Summer menu. It was very good. Had their famous Tres Leche Cake for dessert -- best in... read more

Can get quite noisy.

A fantastic and authentic Mexican restaurant. Our cab driver highly recommended this restaurant and we were not disappointed. The waitstaff were friendly and attentive. My daughter loved the tacos with the beef patties, and the rest of our dinner was so flavorful. If ever in Tucson, this local eatery is a must. The restaurant has been owned by the same... More

Server was very helpful. Fajitas were delicious and enough for two people. Combination chicken and steak. We will go there every time we go to Tucson.

I have eaten there many times. On nicer days, I have sat outside as well as inside. It is small, but the food is great. Never had a problem with waiters. Good Mexican food. I cannot say how crowded it gets since we have always eaten there in the off hours. Parking was close. Great atmosphere.

We spent the winter just South of Tucson in Green Valley. Ate here at EL CHARRO several times. It was well worth the 25 mile trip. The food was so much different and better than most of the Mexican Cuisine Restaurants we've been to across the country. (Including other places with the same name) You have to go several times... Went for a family dinner with a bunch of friends. Server forgot the guacamole, had to remind 20 mins later. Put in the kids food first to get it out first...came with everyone else's meal. Salsa on the table has to much tomatoes and not enough flavor. Bathrooms clean. Luke the atmosphere inside. Got tacos lettuce wrapped and the beef... More

Ordered the Carne Seca with several others at my table. I would highly recommend it. Staff was helpful and nice. This restaurant does not have the parking problems like some of the other restaurants in town.

Lovely building to enjoy a great meal with attentive staff. Go early or late to avoid long wait times.
