Most Unique Cuisine in Tucson

The menu changes every day, but the 7 or 8 items are always delicious creative dishes. Fresh local ingredients with a creative southwestern flair. My favorite is the menu option that is a "chef's choice" 3 menu items. Highly recommend this restaurant in downtown Tucson if you are there.

Downtown Tucson SHOULD have a good restaurant or two, worthy of its reputation. Poca Cosa is one of those OVER-RATED, tourist joints, POSING as if it serves good ethnic "cuisine." The exact opposite is my experience. Despite the enthusiastic owner and the lure of a somewhat attractive decor, the place is too dark, so that the plates overlladen with garnish... More

Went in with high expectations. Was seated quickly without a reservation. Chips and salsa were fresh and tasty. The limited menu was interesting with 7-8 items that are very similar. Presentation was different with the salad overpowering the rest of the food on the plate Flavor of the pepper and beef was good but other items were not complimentary. Not... More

I'm puzzled by all the glowing reviews. My meal was horrible; no spice, no subtle flavors, no taste. We ordered and our food was out in less than five minutes. Pre-prepared and microwaved before serving? I'm paying $25 for microwaved food? Overall a thoroughly unsatisfying experience. This place must be resting on the laurels of its former self. Best to... We have now visited Cafe Poca Cosa twice as friends from Tucson insisted it is one of the best Mexican restaurants in Tucson. It is very modern and clean. The bathrooms were great. There is lots of staff sometimes hovering to see if you need more chips or salsa or waiting to remove your plates no doubt so they can... More

First time there with the recommendations from friends. The food is pretty good, but half the plate is a super huge salad? The staff were ok seemed like they need to be a little more professional. Probably would go back knowing what I am getting into here. After our dinner nobody cleaned our table etc ( Busboys ) So perhaps... More

I read the reviews about this restaurant and there seemed to be a theme about the wait staff being arrogant and disinterested. I was worried about this but the food seemed to be their shining glory so we tried it. Everything was true. When we arrived we were asked if we had a reservation. We said no but then she... More

Well, it doesn't look like a Mexican restaurant, but it sure delivers great Mexican (as in real Mexico Mexican) dishes. You walk into this elegant, black and white decorated space and think "big city" restaurant somewhere. The waiter comes to your table with a blackboard and explains each of the 10 or so items on offer for the evening. The... More

We really enjoyed our dinner at Poca Cosa and, contrary to others who felt unwelcome, we had a reservation that we had to change, due to traffic, and they could not have been more accommodating. We very much appreciated their forbearance, as they were clearly busy that evening...but they understood our dilemma. Upon arriving in the downtown neighborhood, we were... More

We went to this downtown Tucson restaurant for a birthday dinner after reading many reviews about local restaurants. When we arrived we were immediately seated and welcomed by our server, who brought us water, chips and salsa. We noticed the very uptown, chic decor of curved bar, tufted bench seats, oversized lamps, dark walls, subdued lighting, lights in trees. Our... More
