A Pleasant Surprise

An interesting spot. Staff were very friendly and lunch was very good. Each of our party of 4 had haddock prepared in a different way and each meal was great. the portions were quite large, so we did not indulge in the homemade pie, but there was a great selection and they looked great. Two of my... read more

Uncle Kippy's serves lots of dishes but locals say it's THE place in Lubec for seafood. I tried the stuff baked haddock and it was a great meal. Lots of flavor, and a large serving along with sides. I left there more than satisfied, a great mood booster at the end of a rainy day.

Everything was ok. Nothing outstandingly good or bad. The whole place had a tired, worn out look and feel. Waitress was friendly and efficient. Price was reasonable - fair for the meal. I would go back again but there are also better choices within 5-10 minutes.

Visiting from Michigan, this restaurant was recommended by our innkeeper as there were not that many dinner places open the time of year we visited. The décor of this place is best described as tired, 1950s kitchen. Wife fought with her first whole lobster, which was amusing. Seafood was good, but no better than we could have gotten back in... On the 4th of September, we spent 1 night in Lubec on our mini-vacation getaway. Had a great time in Ellsworth and decided on an open air dinner as we had our small dog with us. We ordered a Seafood platter which included clams and an order of clams and chips and sat at a curbside picnic table on the... More

Dinner consisted of dinner salads and pizza. A 14 inch pizza is plenty for two people. The crust was light, the tomato sauce flavorful and the cheese tasty. We would definitely return for pizza again here. The interior is plain, but the wait staff is friendly and it is clear that most folks know everyone else in the restaurant.

Went there for lunch with my aunt. Wanted fried clams, but were unavailable. On the coast of Maine!!!!!!!! Had fish and chips. Asked for malt vinegar. Didn't have any. Really!!!!!! Malt vinegar and fish 'n chips go together. The fish anc chips were good. Oh, out of scallops as well. My second choice. Maybe it's because it's the end of... More

Ok we were not expecting fine dining in Lubec. This place was recommended by a local so thought we would try it. The decor is funky....something from another generation which is fine by me. The waitresses were fun and attentive. But my dinner....listed as a local favorite was not good. It was seared haddock (ok burned on the outside and... More

Not to many restaurants to choose from in Lubec, Maine, but the pizza was great!! The building is in bad shape, but don't let that stop you.

Uncle Kippy's was recommended to my family by the friendly folks at Save Our Strays in downtown Lubec and I am recommending it to you now. It's not fancy. Some might say it's not even pretty. But the food is delicious and the service is friendly, and gosh darn it, it's worth every penny! So... If you want to eat... More
