Spectacular views, good food.

Generous wine servings. Excellent beet salad - crisp, beautifully prepared, and artistically present. Salmon dish was average - fish may have not been fresh. Warm dinner rolls would have been a plus, but the resaurant is a tavern after all..

I've always been a fan of Water Street but the recent menu and chef change has made me a super-fan!! The owner in this small town, knows and greets all the locals - which is a really nice touch - and he knows his wine! The food has gone from expected fare to something just a bit more "out there"... Lubec is remote, a lobstering kinda town. Some how it has landed an incredible chef with interesting, delectable dishes. A beet carpaccio with goat cheese and pistachios (get the picture?) started. A bottle of wine was not to my taste and the proprietor offered to replace it (it was fine, just not for me). Husbands salad was good. We both... More

I had dinner at the Water Street Tavern last night. When I went in, I was told to sit anywhere I wanted to. When I peeked around the corner towards the outside deck, a gentleman approached me and said he couldn't allow one person to take up a table for four and directed me back to the front of the... We had drinks at the bar one night and then drinks and dinner a few nights later. The owners are friendly. The atmosphere is a little more upscale without being pretentious - you could be in a large east coast city, the decor is that clean and polished. We had the salmon and haddock dishes and were not disappointed! Service... More

Anyone who thinks that Lubec houses only casual, local hangout kind of dining options (good food - no fuss) have never been to the Water St. Tavern. The meal we had on our last night was not "food" - it was "dining" in every best sense of the word. The haddock and salmon were fresh and paired with the perfect... More

Well prepared, innovative food, staffed with people anxious for you to enjoy your meal. Additionally Jim, the owner, and I had a quick discussion about his wine offerings and he generously offered a tasting. I was delighted with my wine choice which beautifully complemented dinner. By the way, the inside is well decorated with local art, and there are great... More

Brad and Nina, respectively pastry chef and chef, have brought destination dining to Lubec. We have always enjoyed our visits to Lubec but never felt they had an excellent restaurant. Now they do. Service was excellent, friendly and knowledgeable. Among four of us we had three different entrees. All were outstanding both in preparation and presentation. I'd like to be... More
