Best chocolates for a downeast experience!

The bon-bon type chocolates are sooo wonderful...some are pecan, walnut, plum, coconut, or cashew filled with a Peruvian filling that is like nothing ever tasted before, but very elegant! Monica was so nice and welcoming. She offered us a sample of her homemade, handmade chocolates and even took us on a tour.

What a great treat at the end of the day! Monica graciously showed us her confections in the making.... a labor of love. Painstaking attention to technique and detail produce a mouthwatering result. Didn't expect to bring chocolate home from Maine, but my husband loved the dark chocolate with blueberries. There are no bad choices. The Alpaca sweaters and scarves... More

Monica treats you like family when you walk in, insisting you try things. It's impossible to refuse - and luckily it is worth every calorie! Her Peruvian "truffle" things - the giant tasty chocolate balls of gooey Peruvian caramel and other fillings - may well be one of the finest treats I've ever indulged in. They put any store-bought candy... More

My father and I were recently visiting Lubec Maine. We happened into Monica's chocolates. It is huge. Upon arriving we were offered large samples of some of the best chocolates we had ever eaten. Apart from chocolates, there are lots and lots of handicrafts from Peru that are absolutely beautiful. Definitely worth a visit.

This is not at all what I expected--so much more than just chocolates. Let the guys wait outside while the women check out all the inexpensive jewelry, taste some delicious chocolates (well, the men will enjoy those), and most definitely check out the sweaters in the Alpaca Room.

I was never expecting to find a chocolatier in Lubec. This small shop has a tempting assortment of creative, quality chocolate - as well as jewelry. Not a restaurant, but you'll probably find something good to eat. It's a friendly place, but when it's busy, you have to hunt down someone to take your money. The chocolate is as good... More

For us, Lubec was full of surprises, the best of them being “Monica’s Chocolates”. Being from Germany, my husband and I are chocolate lovers. So we decided to stop at Monica’s and were pleasantly surprised. The place is beautifully decorated and one can find chocolate in all kinds of shapes such as whales, bears, moose etc. And there are truffles!... More

We choose to stop at Monica's Chocolates on a rainy summer day, hoping for hot chocolate, and had a delightful experience. Monica greeted us warmly and extended tastings, a chance to learn about the mix of her Peruvian youth and her business venture in the US. She also offers wonderful Peruvian fabric pieces and jewelry, but the chocolates are standouts.... More
