Great Comfort Food, Casual Service

Very quaint little place. The general pace of Lubec is one of leisure and they do not put on a show, they are just regular people. So, don't be surprised if you are seated near the refrigerator and the microwave in the back and they pop the baked bread right in there in front of you to warm it up... read more

Frank's serves very good food, the staff is friendly and efficient, and the location on the water in Lubec, Maine can't be beat. We've had mixed feelings about dinner here (they close early at 7pm, run out of food, and the small place gets crowded). But lunch is just wonderful.

Doesn't necessarily look special from the outside, but the food is amazing! We sat on the back deck, in spite of the chill -- we had jackets, but the restaurant provided a basket of blankets for those who were chilly. DH ordered scallops in port wine; I ordered lobster cakes -- wow! Both were delicious! Frank's closes at 7:00, so... More

I'm doing a solo trip to the farthest eastern point in the continental USA and stopped at Franks Dockside for dinner. No tap beer but Sam Adams in a bottle was good enough. Enjoyed the fresh bowl of clam chowder. Freshly made with tasty clams, potatoes, onions, butter and cream. Large enough for lunch and probably dinner if you ordered... More

We had dinner for four. Everyone liked there choices. The Chicken Marsalis was very good, but hard to tell the difference between it and the chicken scampi, other than a couple mushrooms. Service was good.

Homemade meatballs, thinly sliced perfectly fried eggplant sandwiches and the best lobster roll you could ever get your hands on. My roll came with a big thick claw hunk and it was loaded right up with meat! The bread/bun is toasted like the garlic bread and this is what sets it apart from others for sure. Frank's cracked the code... More

Stopped in for lunch before hiking at Quoddy State Park. Clams were very good but we each got very few in the basket. There were loads of delicious fries and a small portion of good cole slaw. Coffee and service were very good. For $16, we should have had more clams and cole slaw.

Ate lunch here on 7/26/15 and we both had Fried Clam Basket. We have eaten fried clams all up and down the east coast and these were the worst fried clams and the smallest portion I have ever seen! They were supposed to be whole belly. We got 7 really tiny clams each and only 3 had bellies the others... More

Good Service but very cold at lunchtime with both front and rear doors left ope open on a cool day for some reason. The tiny kitchen is probably very hot and does not appear to be conducive to good cooking. Very skimpy portion of french fries for $3.50. Definitely not enough to share. Also the french fries were double fried... More
