We took a simple cooking class at Blue Grotto from a groupon that I had purchased and was pleasantly surprised to how much fun it was along with being educational. Everyone was asked to fill out a survey about the class and in return you would be mailed a $25 gift certificate to return to the restaurant for dinner. We... More

Whether it is the décor which is faded and worn, or the staff which seemed jaded and just making do or the just not quite sharp preparation of standard dishes this restaurant is living on past glory. I enjoyed my cracker crusted scrod and the saltimbocca was properly prepared but nothing special. Caesar salad seemed prepared in advance and there... More

This is supposed to be a "high end" Italian restaurant.,.what a joke. Place was empty--6:30 on a Wednesday. Server was completely absent during most of meal. Needed cheeses, black pepper...no where to be found. The pasta fagioli was out of a can--I was hungry--I ate it. The trio of polpetti (meatballs) was terrible--dog food, dry, no sauce...I refused it after... More

Went to Blue Grotto on a Groupon. Spent $115 for 4 people for wine, soup or salad and an entree up to $35. The groupon is good for up to $230 worth of food/drink. Prior to ordering I asked the waiter if there were any stipulations to which he said, "no." Service was lacking and it took over an hour... More

My sister and I went for dinner. We both ordered the Linguine with Clams. We both requested it in a white wine sauce. It was TERRIBLE. The worst I have ever had. They did not have any italian bread but instead offered a bread with pesto. What is an Italian restaurant without Italian Bread!!! Don't waste your money!!!!

I went to dinner with my roommate and her mother last Thursday night around 6pm. The place is decent size. It was quiet and not many people where there. Our waiter was very nice but did not check in on us that much. My roommate's mom wanted her drink refilled but the waiter never came back until we were finished... More

The poor service was overshadowed by the lousy, overpriced food. The place hadn't been updated in 20 years Christmas decorations still up... Really???

We went to the Blue Grotto on Saturday during the 2014 Providence Restaurant week. Had reservations for a lunch. Upon arrival, we have been made waiting to be sited for pretty long time. The restaurant was half empty and tables were available - looked like they didn’t have enough waiting staff. We decided to order from the restaurant week menu,... More

Four of us had dinner at The Blue Grotto last weekend. It was a Saturday evening and we were glad that we had made reservations, because it was packed, even at 6:00. Whether this is the normal state for the restaurant, or because it was Restaurant Week, we don’t know. We had all been to The Blue Grotto in the... More
