Called several times for reservations. They promised to call back and never did. Called again and was told that they were too busy to help me, and to call back the next day. more

CAV (short for Coffee, Antiques, and Victuals – all of which the owner has traveled around the word to collect) seems like no other dining experience. Hidden away in a secluded part of downtown Providence, RI in a converted warehouse, the restaurant claims to serve up fusion cuisine as eclectic as its unique space. Over the years, CAV has been... more

Went to Cav on a Thursday evening in August. We loved the decor and our waiter was great. You can dress up a bit, but decent jeans would have been fine the night we were there too. I got the Parmesan-enrusted chicken and I was disappointed. It was a very thick piece of chicken (not juicy though) with some cheese... more

My boyfriend and I ate at Cav's this past Friday night. I picked it based on the reviews I read here. It did not disappoint! Really cool atmosphere--we enjoyed walking around and seeing all the decor and especially the African/Asian themed statues and masks. The service was very good--friendly, quick but not rushed, and attentive. Both our appetizers and meals... more

First of all, I am not your average run of the mill reviewer and never write into these types of things. However I feel compelled to because this restaurant is simply TERRIFIC. I travel all over the world on business and eat out on average 4 times a week and have yet to see a place that comes close to... more

Providene has many top-end restaurants. Unfortunately, many of them fall a bit short. Not CAV. This hard to find, eclectic restaurant serves fantastic food in one of the most unique spaces you will ever expereince (that is why included scenic view for this restaurant). If you like the African masks, woven carpets or statues that decorate the space, ask how... more

Service was friendly but haphazard. Appetizers took a long time and then the main course arrived before we had finished the appetizers. The food was mediocre. Lack of flavor was overcompensated by excessive butter, cream, and oil. more

If you love antique objects, crystal chandelliers and lots of old mirrors, you would absolutely love the decor in this restaurant. I tried several dishes here in my 3 trips to this place, and I loved them all. They have both eclectic style dishes (lobster with shitake mushrooms, & ginger mashed potatoes, chicken with baked red pears, baked brie with... more

Having been recently to CAV for dinner with friends, I can only say WOW! The ambience is certainly interesting, I spent most of my non-eating time looking at the fantastic decor. We also had a very charming and interesting Turkish waiter, who took great care of us. And then the food came.... I was very impressed with the pistachio-encrusted crabcake... more

CAV is my favorite restaurant in Providence - in fact, I'm having my wedding reception there next year! It's just totally unique (I love the chandeliers), with great food at relatively good prices. The menu is slightly limited for vegetarians, but I usually stick to the appetizers - the bruschetta is absolutely the best I've ever had, the Brie &... more
